Super Zhou Zhou, a stray cat with mange

Julie Pek spotted this black cat on the roadside one night three weeks ago.  He looked very weak at the time, so Julie brought him home.  At that time, the cat was extremely foul-smelling no matter how many times Julie bathed him.

Julie finally took him to the vet and it was found that the cat is suffering from a very serious mange problem.

Julie calls him “Super Zhou Zhou”.  Zhou Zhou will need 4 mange jabs spread over a month.  We are sponsoring his treatment.

As you can see from the photos below, Zhou Zhou’s mange problem looks very bad.

We hope Zhou Zhou will respond well to the treatment and be a beautiful cat again.

Even 1 or 2 weeks after the Ivermectin treatment, you will start to see a handsome boy emerge as the crusts start falling off his body. His mange is so bad that he needs the whole treatment of 4 doses 7-10 days apart to totally break the mites' life cycle, ensuring that all mites that hatch out later from the eggs attached to his body get destroyed as well.
Good that kind Julie picked him up otherwise it will spread internally and the boy will suffer a long slow death.

Job well done, Julie, God bless you!

Super Zhou Zhou reminds me of a kitten that Alicia at Pet Epicure rescued some time ago. He, too, was covered with mange and looked horrible. She posted the "after" photo of him when she put him up for adoption, and it was a case of looking at a miracle. He was gorgeous! I hope Zhou Zhou recovers as completely, because I think he'll be a very, very handsome boy when he's rid of that mange! 🙂
