The Power of One, Part 2

Here’s another wonderful sharing from Tonita Fernandez from the U.S.  She is truly an epitome of “The Power of One”.  Tonita has been rescuing “death-row” dogs for 33 years now, and she does it alone.  Let’s learn from her, shall we?

In case you’ve missed Part 1, it’s here: http://animalcare.my/2011/02/power-of-one.html

You are so right, there is never a perfect time. But for the dog that is saved from his life on a chain or from being hit by a car as he runs frantic through the streets, or for the dog in the shelter that will soon be euthanized it is the perfect time for them. To save them before they die, to save them from the suffering, to save them from starvation, or a life on a chain to them it means everything. They ask for nothing. They are happy with the softness of a bed, a bowl of food, a pat on the head. They love unconditionally, they are so faithful. We only have to be in the company of a dog or cat for a short period to know just how smart and loving they are. There is a verse in the bible that says “Blessed is the man that cares well for his beast” and that is so true. My friends always say “Tonita you can not save them all “ and I say I am only saving one at a time and to that one it means everything. Look into the one you just helped to save and you can see their heart smiling and you can hear the words “Thank you” if you quiet your spirit long enough to listen to them. Tell all people to start today to change the world tomorrow. Just one animal at a time but to start today. It will never be the perfect situation, you will never have enough money or time or land but use what you have to the best of your ability to touch one life and make a HUGE difference.
You are a hero to the animals and a inspiration to me. God bless you and all that you touch.

Tonita

And bless you, Tonita, for your compassion and wisdom!

The world is a dangerous place not because of people who do evil, but because of good people who look on and do nothing about it.
