Kelly’s story

Kelly wrote to me sometime last year to ask how she should care for a mother-cat who frequented her house.  One thing led to another and today, Kelly is the proud owner/friend of a whole family of cats!  Kelly has even so generously offered to share whatever she knows about handling kittens with anyone should they need help.

Here’s Kelly’s story…(unedited):

It was 2008 since meow2 adopted me. On and off she will come to my house and visit me. By reading your first book – paws print of my heart, I become more compassionate toward stray animal and to tell the true, initially I wasn’t a cat lover at all. So I try to give some kibbles to her and only call her meow meow because that is the common name for cat. Things take a big turn when she was with her 3rd pregnancy ( so far that I know off) because at that time meow2 has become a regular visitor to my house. Even my neighbor recognize that she is my cat , because she gave birth at my neighbor house. However, the kittens were put into a box and nicely place into my car porch ( I was away for few day at that time). So that is the beginning of a my love story for cats.

By taking them in, I know I have to spayed meow2 but I was in dilemma to do so. I read more from your blog and book to get the courage and assurance that I’m doing the good thing for meow2.

This took me 2+ month after she gave birth, and I know I can’t delayed any more. But one thing that help make up my mind is the message from your book. I can’t recall exactly but It read something like this. If the spaying is doing any harm , I’m going to repay with more love. Her spaying operation wasn’t a smooth one, Dr. has to do a ultrasound because she suspected meow2 is pregnant.

Luckily it was only stool and the operation was carried on. However, next morning , when the doc call and says that yesterday nite after the operation meow2 need to be put on oxygen mask ( my heart miss a few beats when I hear that ) and on drip because she wasn’t awake. Again, luckily everything was find and she only need to be monitor for another day. I took her back later, and she was the queen of my house. She can sleep anywhere she wanted during her recuperation days J. But now …only the appointed sofa as you can see from the photos.

Adopting a stray or being adopted , for me the greatest reward is to see them fall asleep soundly. Knowing that they feel safe and contented.

Ahh…this is the life!
It’s so wonderful to know that by sharing my stories, Kelly has now become a cat-onwer, and I hope that by sharing Kelly’s story, we will have more people taking care of and adopting street animals as pet.
