Acid Rain Alert?

I think most of you would have received the same forwarded sms alert about possible acid rain occurring in the region as a result of this morning’s nuclear blast in Japan. 

The fwded sms said not to get caught in the rain today and in the next few days as it may be acidic and can cause much harm to all of us. 

If this is true, I can only hope that all the stray animals out there will know how to seek shelter from the rain. 

Updates:  Apparently, the acid rain alert was a hoax.  Oh well, better be safe than sorry. 

When I received the alert and it was already raining very heavily, I quickly checked on all my cats.  Pole is a roamer and is often not at home.  Indy is always on top of whichever car that’s inside the porch.  The rest also sometimes roam outside. 

Where are all my cats?

Bobby (the dog) is always next to me.  Safe and sound.
Tiger is at his latest favourite place, just outside the toilet!
Oh good….Indy has come into the house.
Cow is safe and sound too.  He’s always at home, anyway.  Never roams.  We sometimes wish he’d roam a bit…because he sprays in the house!  Very territorial.

She’s always out roaming.

    Thank you for the warning about the acid rain — I hadn't heard it elsewhere and will make sure I take my umbrella for the next few days.

    But thank you even more for sharing with us the head-count of your pets! It's lovely to see them all safe, sound, and LOVED. 🙂

    Naughty Cow, none of my 23 cats (now left with only 21 without Ronnie and Inkie) spray in the house.

    They sit and urinate like female cats, and some right into the bathroom hole. Hmmm, am so proud of you babies. Kunyi and Seenu wakes us up at wee hours to relieve themselves. We have to lead them to bathroom and later clen them up. Kunyi is my alarm clock. He wakes us up shart 4.30am daily.

    And Pole looks exactly like my Napolean.

    This query on the SMS on acid rain had been posted on the Government's Malaysian Meteorological Department (MMD)'s Facebook site at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Malaysian-Meteorological-Department/153854517997853 by SK Sri Pantai Lahad Datu as follows:

    "Sekarang ni dah banyak sms tersebar mengatakan akan berlaku hujan asid yg boleh menyebabkan mudarat kepada manusia ekoran daripada letupan loji nuklear di Jepun. Ada apa-apa penjelasan untuk sms tersebut? Terimakasih."

    For the information of all, this is the MMD's official reply:

    "SMS tersebut adalah tidak benar. Orang ramai dinasihatkan tidak menyebarkan SMS berkenaan."

    If there be any contamination in the rain water and atmosphere, I'd be more worried that it be radiation from the disasterous 3rd explosion of Japan's nuclear plant yesterday. I am really worried about the remaining 2 which are already overheating.

    God, we cannot survive such a nuclear disaster! But on the happy side, I look forward to being in that special Meadow of Gold for eternity with ALL my cats and rescues.
