“Didi”, the escape artist, neutered today

Remember the male cat who got away?

Well, CP and hubby, Lim, managed to catch him again last night so this morning, they sent him for neutering under our sponsorship.

I must say how extremely touched I am at CP’s care and concern for Didi, the male cat.  From someone who did not know how to care for cats and had no prior experience coupled with a phobia for animals, CP has now become quite an expert!  But most importantly, she has developed so much love and kindness towards these cats.  I am so touched.

CP started writing to me after reading my books.  A few weeks ago, this entire family of cats (mother, father and three kittens) had come to her house.  She didn’t quite know what to do, so she emailed and we communicated almost daily.  She actually also used my books as a “study-guide”!

CP even found an adopter for the three kittens.  Unfortunately, one by one, the kittens got “lost”.  CP suspects the mother is probably inexperienced and did not quite know how to protect her kittens.  It has also been raining very heavily every evening.

The saddest thing is that when the first kitten got lost, the mother-cat came crying and mewing to CP, asking for help.  Then, there were two kittens left.  But a few days ago, even these two went missing after the heavy downpour.

The mother-cat is now very depressed and sad.

I am so sad too, but this is the reality of stray animals.

Anyway, the father-cat, Didi, has been sent for neutering today and he is fine now.

I’ve consulted our vet and he says the mother-cat can already be spayed since she had stopped nursing for about a week now.

Here’s something else that is very touching.  CP said when they managed to cage the father-cat, the mother-cat sat beside the cage, mewing and keeping him company all night.  And when they brought the father-cat to the vet today, the mother-cat kept mewing and wanted to go into the car to accompany him.

Gosh…doesn’t this just make you want to cry?

Here are the photos:

Didi was very nervous in the cage, while waiting for the clinic to open.  CP said he was ok in the car, but that’s also because she was doing a lot of loving-kindness radiation for him.  Bless her for her kind heart.

CP’s husband, Lim, talking to Didi and calming him down.  They are both so loving to Didi.

The vet examining Didi.  I stayed outside as I did not want to stress Didi out with the presence of another stranger.

That’s Didi on the right with the mother-cat.
Hopefully we can get the mother-cat spayed soon and hopefully, Didi and she can live safely and happily around the house with no more mishaps.
Earlier on, CP had asked me to help out with looking after the mother-cat after spaying as she had no confidence in taking care of the cat after surgery.  I had already got Julie Pek on standby to foster the cat for a week, and had found an adopter for the cat after that.  But today, CP said to me, she will look after the mother-cat.  No need to trouble Julie anymore.
There is already a bond.

CP and Lim are the perfect examples of people whom previously have had no experience at all in caring for animals but have now learnt and are doing an excellent job.  We definitely need more people like them, don’t we?

Kudos to them both…and thank you!

As rescuers we cannot do as much as we would like to, but here’s what we can do – Share our experience and guide others to do it.  Give them all the support they need. Don’t turn them away when they ask for help.

Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.

Let’s work together for the animals!
