The lady who sought my help in finding out who to turn to for a cruelty case (in Penang) said DVS Penang responded immediately and went to the “tempat kejadian” today itself to investigate.
Earlier on, she told me she contacted DVS Penang directly but there was no response, but when I told her to write to pro@dvs.gov.my in Putrajaya, there was an immediate response from DVS Penang.
Now, we know what to do!

This is great news. Yes, it's unfortunate that this woman had to contact you, then Putrajaya, before the Penang authorities responded, but I think the message is getting through: We do care about animal welfare, and we expect the authorities to act upon complaints! It's all a series of small steps toward greater awareness and — we hope! — better legislation to protect animals. Aren't you glad your blog was the conduit? 🙂
