Scrawny @ Me eow is a female stray cat who adopted Lean Ee!
Here’s the story:
My boys and I still can’t agree on its name. We started out calling it Scrawnybecause it was pathetically so (and covered with bite sores) when it first appeared at our garden a few months ago. But after constantly feeding it, it is looking pretty. Somehow, Scrawny doesn’t seem an appropriate name for it anymore. Not being very creative in naming pets, I decided to ask it what I should name it. It came back with its usual answer to me – Me-eow! For me, that’s so spot on because she is always looking at me and asking for food. It’s like she’s saying “Me eow” (“Me hungry” in Hokkien). LOL! Needless to say, my boys hate that name so they are sticking to Scrawny and I am sticking to Me-eow.
Lean Ee met me at the Petfinder event and she contacted me yesterday to arrange for a spaying appointment for Scrawny. Scrawny was spayed today at our panel vet, and Lean Ee decided to pay for the cost of spaying since her family is adopting Scrawny. We wish Scrawny @ Me eow a great life with Lean Ee and her sons!
Lean Ee’s email (during the power failure when I was internet-crippled!):
Just to let you know that Me-eow’s operation went well. I have brought her home but she is still a bit disoriented. Also, I have decided to officially adopt her and therefore have paid the clinic for the op. I believe Me-eow came into my life for a reason so it would not be right for someone else (especially a charity organisation) to have to pay for her well-being when I can afford it. Many thanks for your kindness anyway.
Generally, I love dogs and cats but had been hesitant on adopting Me-eow due to a few reasons: 1) My hubby suffers from sinusitis; 2) My dog hates cats and barks like crazy whenever she knows there are cats around; 3) We are also planning on moving to a condo once my boys go off for further studies, and as far as we know, condos in Malaysia do not allow pets. But at least now that Me-eow has been spayed, she can come and go as she pleases, and yet know that there will be food and shelter for her here.
Going forward, I would like to know know more about the kind of help your organisation needs. If I can, I’d surely like to help.
Thank you, Lean Ee, for adopting Me eow and taking responsibility for her.
We certainly hope there would be more adopters like you!
Lucky Me eow!!

i think "eow" means hungry in hokkien. Not "Me". probably she means "ME" "EOW" is 'ME' 'HUNGRY'.
correct em if im wrong.
Glad me-eow found a kind family to shelter on. 🙂
Don't worry Lean Ee, there are condos where pets are not persecuted. I live in a condo (in PJ) and many owners here have pets. As far as I know, there are no laws in Malaysia which disallow pets to live in condo units, and there should not be. Many condos still have archaic regulations which disallow pets, I'm not sure these regulations are legally enforceable, but anyhow, I would like to believe such regulations will one day be discarded as people become more educated/enlightened.
Yes Bel, people should be aware that pets are not PEST. They are also another creation of god for an enexplained purpose.
