I braved myself this afternoon and went to visit the dog whose nose had been lopped off by some evil human in Semenyih. Wani (of MDDB) had called me about the dog yesterday when the vet suggested that the dog be put down. I said she could always request that the vet treat the dog instead. Vets have their oath to uphold and one of them is that animals do not suffer, so vets have their own idea about how animals should be treated. We just have to respect that but we can agree to disagree, and hence request that we would like the animal to be treated to the best of the vet’s ability.

The first round, I could not find the dog. There were many dogs in the kennel and one dog had a big e-collar and had her face to the back wall. But this dog had a beautiful coat, looked extremely healthy and she was standing so I figured she couldn’t have been the dog. I had expected to find a dog in dire straits or writhing in pain. I asked the front desk, and the vet’s assistant said perhaps the dog had been taken upstairs for some procedure.
I went again the evening and was told that that was the dog! Yes, the dog with the e-collar.
So I braved myself again and went inside. The vet’s assistant went with me so that I don’t miss the dog again.
You ready?
She was facing front this time, so I saw her.
It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
The dog without her nose (MDDB’s case)
Look at her coat, isn’t she beautiful?
I asked the vet’s assistant if I could open the cage door. She said I could because the dog is very friendly.
The vets sewed her up yesterday in an emergency surgery.
I asked the vet about her, if she could breathe without her nose as I heard very heavy breathing. The vet said she could breathe through her mouth.
Apparently, she drank water on her own, but has not eaten though she played with the kibbles a bit. The vet is only worried now if she could still eat because she cannot smell anymore. The vets also inserted two tubes as “nostrils” but this does not seem to be functioning at the moment.
She is a lovely dog….you could pat her and she loves it. See those marks on the e-collar? She bit it. Being a very young dog, she must be quite bored sitting in a cage all day.
You’ll be okay, doggie. Don’t worry. You’re in good hands.
You get well soon and try to eat some food.
I must confess I wasn’t sure if I could face her and I entered the kennels with trepidation and a bit of fear. More of fear of not being able to handle myself should the sight prove to be too traumatic for me. But my fears were totally unfounded and I found myself even wishing I could hug her and reassure her that everything would be alright now.
I know we are all aghast at the person who did this to her. Wani said she would locate that person and report him to the DVS. We will let the authorities deal with that person. Never mind if the maximum penalty is only a RM200 fine. There is a higher universal moral law which no one can defy.
For the rest of us, let’s provide all the healing energy we have to this doggie now. She wants to live and she is well. There is nothing wrong with her except that she is disfigured in the nose area.
I drove home with mixed feelings. I no longer felt anger at the person who did this. Rather, I just want to radiate all the positive energy I can to this doggie so that she would heal quickly. Then, I realised she doesn’t have a name yet. Would Wani consider calling her “Citta”? Citta means “heart and soul”. This doggie may not have the looks now, but she certainly has heart and soul. And we too need to see beyond looks now, and radiate all our love to her….from our heart and soul.
Get well soon, little doggie!

I couldn't hold back the tears that just welled up in my eyes. How could a human do such a thing? Hope that she gets well soon and from now on, lives a better and happier life.

positive energy and lots of love to citta… for the person who did this, u just wait for your karma to get back at you..
I cried tears of sorrow when i read about her plight yesterday & immediately said prayers & chanted for her. After reading your post and seeing her pictures today, i cried tears of joy. I'm so happy that Citta has been given a chance to live and that she is willing to fight for her life. We will all continue to pray & chant for her until she is fully recovered and living the life that she so deserves.
๐ Stay Strong Citta. After all you have gone thru with human, I see that u still can be a beautiful pet. I believe Citta had forgiven the humans as she lets Dr Chan pet her, look at the picture. You have a beautiful forgiving heart and soul. Citta now shares name with one of Buddha's disciples 'Citta of Macchikasanda' one whom Buddha praised the highest for being skilful and diligent in giving and practising the Dharma. Citta, I know and am so confident you will get a great loving owner even before your treatment days are over. Would love to go over to the Vet and pet you too. I love you Citta. Dear Dr Chan, where is Citta?
