Two dogs in need of a home (Cheong WanMei’s)

Cheong WanMei (012 390 3699) has written on behalf of two rescued dogs who need a home:

Dear Dr Chan,

My name is Buddy.  I have been living in the streets since I was a puppy with my sister; Shye Shye.  I am around 9 months old now.  I am a crossed breed medium sized male dog with beautiful black lined eyes and short brown fur.  My foster parent said I reminded her of the eyes of a bharanatyam dancer.  I have been neutered vaccinated dewormed and my blood tests show I am in great health.  I have good temperament and gentle with my carer and her family members.  I can get along well with other dogs too.  Please help me and give me a chance to live with a loving carer.

May you be blessed always for your kindness!

Love

Buddy

Dear Dr Chan

My name is Shye Shye.  My foster parent gave me this unique name as I was very shy when I first met her.  Please do not blame me for being as such as I lack human interactions when I was living in the streets as a puppy with my brother; Buddy.  I am around 9 months old now.  I am a crossed breed medium sized female dog with distinct pointed ears and short brown fur with slight highlight of black around my neck and body that makes me stand out from the others.  I have been neutered vaccinated dewormed and my blood tests show I am in great health.  I make a very good guard dog despite my size.  I am very agile as I sport a very slim and fit figure.  I have good temperament and gentle with my carer and her family members.  I can get along well with other dogs too.  Please help me and give me a chance to live with a loving carer; if all possible together with my brother.

May you be blessed always for your kindness!

Love
Shye Shye

Such great big house, why can't the people, who are kind enough to take these puppies in, adopt them?

I just don't understand. Just give a little more and these puppies would be so happy. I am sure.

  2. Everyone has their personal reasons and limitations. We can only do our best. That's what this blog is for – to publicise for help when others need it. So, let's help.

  3. i agree Cindy . my answered to this they should more care and adopt Buddy and Shye Shye because i see that the environment is good for a pet to stay in i hope that the owner will think again and reconsider it to let Buddy and Shye Shye to stay is so pity full and sad that they have to give another owner to look after went this owner have a chance to have a pet look after .

    Dear Cindy and Jude,

We don't know anything about the people who rescued these two dogs, other than they've obviously taken the time to get the animals off the street, vaccinated, neutered, etc.

They may already be keeping the number of dogs they can support.
They may be elderly, or in poor health. They may have a family member who is allergic to dogs, so they can do no more than foster these 2 temporarily.

Each of us has to set limits: How many pets can I realistically support and care for well? None of us can establish that limit for another person.

I think we need to give these people credit for helping the dogs as much as they have to this point and then respect their decision to re-home them. I know it's frustrating. I know there are too many dogs and too few good homes. Each of us can only do what we're able to, and it's not productive to scold others for not doing more.

    Just my two sen. 🙂

Beautiful pair of dogs in a fabulous environment – looks like so far, they have been well cared for. Must be heartbreaking for their wonderful foster parents, having to let them go. Yeah, if only … but we all have limitations and sometimes circumstances /obstacles get in our way. Buddy & Shye2, you don't wish for a mansion but basic needs, love & TLC, right? Let's all pray hard that you meet equally wonderful ppl who are in a position to share their homes (and love) with both of you. May you and your caregivers be blessed!

    @ManekiNeko: Agree.

There are so many reasons we don't and won't know. I think the rescuer has done more than what many can do.

For example, I can also say that there is some yard space at my house that I think I can keep probably another dog or two, and I'd also love to have a cat to curl around. But my family members strongly disagree. They are not fond of animals. Should I ignore them and just bring back two more puppies and a kitten to foster and later adopt, and make them uncomfortable?

We all have limitations. We can only do as much as we are able to.
