Apeng on Rainbow Bridge

This is a sharing from Azmira Amran, reproduced with her permission:

Dear Dr Chan,

I was reading your entry about Vixey. It reminds me so much of the best cat I’ve ever had, Apeng. I miss him so terribly. I really really really hope that Rainbow Bridge does exist because I feel so much pain inside from missing my cat Apeng. If you have time, you can read my blog entry about Apeng. Thank you for the inspiration. I wish you health and happiness always.

And this below…so apt, especially when I have just blogged about why we do not subscribe to euthanasia:

I had witnessed euthanasia before when I was a child. A stray kitten we adopted was so sick and when we took it to the vet, the vet said that there was nothing to be done. It was better to put the kitty to sleep. I didnt know much I was small, but I remembered that after the vet injected the poor kitty, he miaowed so loudly and he was in so much in pain. That was the first and the last euthanasia for animals for me.

By the way, I have a petfinder profile for Apeng: http://www.petfinder.my/pets/13979/

Thank you and take care.

You too, Azmira.
Apeng must be very happy on Rainbow Bridge!
Thank you for sharing your inspirational story.

  1. It is very nice to know that we all similar beliefs towards nursing the animal until it is able to be back on its feet. When i read one of your book on the Rainbow bridge it just made me drown in my tears, reminded me of Tazmania. He passed away in his sleep, i guess he knew that it would burden me if he allowed me to pay for his examination. He was active and being all manja at the clinic until the doctor broke the news and taz was just quiet and he sat on my lap while i drove my car. Yes Tazmania is one cat that can sit on your lap and be well behave, you can take him to starbucks also, which my friend did. His story is here

and i believe that he would be able to make friends with Vixey, since they are off the similar color.

Amira, that vet did not euthanise in the correct manner that is why the poor kitten screamed in pain. So sad. Nak mati pun in such a suffering manner. So very sad.
