Sweetie was a street dog rescued by Linda Suhaili in Ipoh. Linda brought Sweetie to the vet for treatment, of which we helped subsidise. After Sweetie was well, Linda even found Sweetie a home.

However, a few days ago, Linda wrote to say that Sweetie had passed on. The cause of death is unknown. We share Linda’s sadness but hope she finds comfort in knowing that Sweetie’s last few weeks were showered with love and care, and that Sweetie is in a better place now.
Linda’s story:
Dear Dr Chan,I’m sorry to tell you that Sweetie died on Monday, 12th December at about 3 pm at the vet’s. I don’t actually know what exactly happened as the last I saw her off to her new home, she was as healthy as could be. Her adopter called me on Sunday to tell me that she was taking Sweetie to the vet. It seemed that Sweetie wasn’t eating well and was just moping around. I went to check on her on Monday morning; she looked very weak. I was supposed to go and talk to the vet later in the evening as I had work to do but they called me up at 3.00 pm to tell me that she had died already. I did not ask for a post mortem. Her adopter said that she would take care of Sweetie’s body.I’m still feeling angry at the moment. I’m not blaming anyone, not her adopter, not the vet, not even myself. I accept her death as part of life. But, I am angry at the society that allowed the abuse and torture of Sweetie in the first place. I am angry at the society that enjoys hurting helpless animals just because they can. I am angry at the people who claims they are God fearing beings but at the same time feel it is okay to dump their sick pets on the streets and in shelters when they are no longer as cute as they used to be. A day after Sweetie was adopted, I picked up 3 kittens by the roadside near a mamak restaurant. Somebody without any brains had simply dumped them there on the busy street. Two kittens were sent to the SPCA shelter on Sunday because the owners did not bother to spay their cat. That is the society that I am angry at, the society that I live in. And it will take some time for this anger to pass.Anyhow, I wanted to thank you for your help even though it was not such a happy ending after all but I’d like to think that at least Sweetie died being loved and not on the streets. And, thank you for reading my rants. Do take care.
Warmest regards,
Linda Suhaili

Hi Linda , take heart … we are doing all we can here. Good news though, the 2 kittens are being spayed this week and possible adoption for at least one of them (maybe the calico) to Cameron Highlands. The beautiful tabby I hope will be adopted soon. And great news, Bruce Willis is also adopted :-)))
One step at a time. We can make a difference!
See you on Sunday
