Just when I had just written the last post about our elected authorities not doing enough for the stray animals or animals in general, Wani sent me this link below:
http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/2011/12/27/rm5-million-centralised-state-run-pound-in-the-works/
According to the report, the Selangor State government is going to start a “centralised pound”.
As I understand it, a “pound” would still be a place where un-claimed animals are still euthanised. So, that’s something we cannot support.
And why centralised, especially when Selangor is so big? As pointed out in the report by Wani, wouldn’t it be more troublesome for owners to go to a faraway place to retrieve their captured animals? Wouldn’t it be easier to have well-run smaller pounds in each district? For one, it is easier for owners to reclaim their animals. For another, it is easier to run a smaller place.
I’d still prefer to CNRM and educate the public that this earth does not belong to them alone. It is a shared earth. I acknowledge that it IS hard work getting that message through, but we know that’s the truth, and we’ll just have to push that message through gently over a long period of time. That’s what education is all about. It isn’t about opting for the easier way out knowing fully well that that’s not the right thing to do.
The report above purports that we must respect the rights of people who do not like stray animals roaming around. Well, yes, just as some humans cannot stand the presence of street animals, I’ll bet some animals also cannot stand the presence of uncompassionate humans. Where is the respect for the animals then? Humans, animals and plants exist alongside each other and we have to learn to live in harmony with and with respect for each other.
Well, never mind the authorities. They need to do what they think is right and they are the powers-that-be.
We’ll do what we think is right.

A centralized pound? I can’t wait to see how much the budget to build this…engages so called experts, buy land, build structure, maintenances…and so on…This is just another way to get the tax payers money out and into somebody pockets.
Why must waste the money when it is more economical to CNRM?
AND THANASAYAN SAYS:
“Thanasayan added that stray dogs have a tendency to attack people for no apparent reason. “And when that happens, who will take responsibility for it?”
THAT IS THE MOST BIASED STATEMENT THAT IS SYNONYMOUS WITH STRAY HATERS.

I have never been attacked by any stray dog all my life. Not even when we took them out from the pound. They only attempted to attack the pound workers, not us, their rescuers. Animals have a sixth sense – they know who their friends are.
I’m trying to be positive here … perhaps we could suggest they do the centralised pound like the Cat House on the Kings. So instead of being a pound, it becomes a sanctuary 🙂 Who can we write too to give them our two-cents worth?

This is my DREAM! One day I will do it … one day! Maybe not as grand but yes! In fact, strangely, before I heard about this place, I dreamt I open a sanctuary for cats – and it even had a hospital for cats in my sanctuary. I am praying that this dream will come true. 😛 (Am at work now but still dreaming hehehehe … year-end blues!)
You are right KY. I have never been attacked by any of our rescues either. They know that we are there to help them. This jerk knows nuts – he is biased against strays and the adoption drives held to find homes because he is closely linked to breeders.
Animals can sense evil. Evil hearts, hence the ‘attack’. Agree with 6th sense. As long as you keep calm and at peace and have positive thoughts, the strays will know. They may growl and complain but never attack nor bite. Positive and peace chi. Of course, if you provoke them, they will attack – same goes for human too. Don’t do unto others, what you don’t want others do unto you.
