Everyone, please help circulate. If he is a lost dog, we hope his owner can be found. If not, we hope someone will offer to adopt him. Let’s hope he won’t be sent to any shelter. Please help.
UPDATES at 12.00noon – Our reader, Connie, would like to adopt the dog, but upon contacting Vicky, the dog had been surrendered to the SPCA this morning, and Vicky asked Connie to go to the SPCA t get the dog. Connie contacted me for help and I called the SPCA and it said only the person who surrendered the dog can retrieve the dog. Otherwise, the dog will be subject to vaccination and neutering and it would take weeks during which time, we do not know the fate of the dog at the shelter. So, I called Vicky and am now awaiting the hp of the person who surrendered the dog.
UPDATES at 12.25pm – I called the person who surrendered the dog but could not get through. Then I called the SPCA office and they said the person who surrendered said to keep the dog there for a week after which she would retrieve the dog as there is someone interested to adopt the dog. Now, the story gets complicated because I conveyed this to Vicky and Vicky said that is not what she has understood and that it is not true at all. I’ve now enlisted Vicky’s help to speak to the person who surrendered the dog and folks….please pray that we can somehow get the dog out (before anything untoward happens) as Connie is waiting to adopt the dog and give it a safe and loving Forever Home! Connie, hang on, please. We are doing all we can….!
UPDATES at 12.47pm – I’ve finally managed to get in touch with the person who surrendered the dog. Here’s the story direct from her – She requested the SPCA to keep the dog for 3 days to wait for the owner to claim after which she will let the SPCA do whatever they wish to do with it. So the SPCA must have misunderstood her instructions. I checked with her twice and I’m sure I understood her correctly. This is what she said: I asked the SPCA to keep the dog for 3 days so that they owner can retrieve it. After that, I don’t care what they do with the dog. So I asked her if she would be willing to go down to the SPCA to retrieve the dog. She was busy with CNY preps but is willing to do it and give the dog to Connie under one condition – that Connie will return the dog to the rightful owner should the owner turn up. I think that condition is fair.
UPDATES at 1.10pm – There is obviously a miscommunication here but never mind, because I’ve got the SPCA chairperson’s decision now. Apparently, the SPCA said the person who surrendered instructed them to keep the dog for a week for the owner to retrieve after which she herself will take back the dog. But the person said she did not say that. Anyway, that must have been a miscommunication. But now that Connie has agreed to her terms, the chairperson said all that needs to be done is for the person to call the SPCA to tell them they can release the dog to Connie. Connie will FOSTER the dog until the owner is found, failing which, she will adopt the dog and give him a forever home. Let’s hope this works out now.
UPDATES at 1.25pm – The person who surrendered the dog texted me to say she wants the SPCA to keep the dog for a few more days. As the rescuer, it is her prerogative. We have tried our best. We hope Connie will eventually be able to adopt the dog. From her text messages, the person has her reservations about us. She asks why we are keen to help this dog and not other non-pedigree dogs. Obviously, she is not aware of our work and how we work very hard to help every animal that comes through us. Most of the animals we help are non-pedigree, if she would only look at our track record. Here is where the lack of trust causes animals to suffer. We do not blame her, though, she must have had bad experiences in life to make her lose her trust of humans. She told Connie and me that she doesn’t want the dog to be sold to a petshop. That’s smacking us right in the face saying that we will sell the dog. Ouch, that hurts.
We just hope the dog will be safe in the shelter and will eventually be re-united with his owner or gets to a good home.
Happy New Year, everyone, and if I have one wish to make, it’s for everyone to cultivate trust and goodwill in their fellow beings. It won’t be a happy world if we all live with so much distrust and suspicion in each other. I, for one, will never be able to help so many rescuers if I harbour distrust on everyone (mostly strangers) who asks for help. It is trust that enabled us to help so many rescuers and in turn, their animals.

Please pray hard everybody! Dont let him stay in the cage during this CNY!
I would like to thanks the rescuer for her effort, however, what makes the rescuer to think that the poor dog would be happy in that shelter? And what is suppose to be the aim of these shelters? Why cant they do something good for the animals? Being a volunteer at an animal shelter makes me realise what sort of tough time they are goin thru there. Am not saying they are bad but sometimes the workers feed the animal just for the sake of it. Becoz they (workers) are paid for it. It’s not becoz they love animals… I’ve seen most of the time, the workers will collect or wash away the dog food even before the dogs finish eating. All i can do now is pray for the poor dog and all other abused/neglegted animals. God bless.
Well, situation didnt turn out the way we want it to be.
Pray hard that the owner is found and rescue the dog by today.
If not, my offer still stands ~ rescue the dog from SPCA (provided Rosemary willing to give her corporation just to make a single phone call to the shelter that she has given her permission to release the dog to me) and foster him until the owner is found and surrender back to the owner at the owner place at no cost or reward. And if no one claims him as the owner, I still most willing to adopt him.
Fingers crossed! A lady by the name of Judith Rosalind left a note on Gasing Vet Clinic’s Facebook page, including a photo of her lost Maltese. I believe it’s this dog. I’ve contacted her through Facebook and sent a link to this post, also encouraging her to call SPCA as soon as she can. I pray she gets the dog back quickly and safely!
Thanks, Maneki. I hope so too. The lady who surrendered the dog told Connie she will be taking the dog and it’s not up for adoption.
Hi everyone, this is my dog. He went missing on Saturday and we have frantically been pasting posters of him in the neighhbourhood. Thanks to Rosemary who called me this morning and now I have him back. :-)) Praise God. My entire family was miserable and sad. However, I did call SPCA this morning to find out if someone left a maltese breed there over the weekend, and a lady said no. Thank God for Rosemary and everyone for their well wishes. God Bless!
Dear Judith, So glad you have got your dog back now, and vice versa.
Hi Judith,
I’m so happy for both of u.
I am glad that the dog has been reunited with its owner. Having said that, I am still unable to comprehend the rescuer’s logic. She had refused to allow the dog to be fostered and insisted that it remained at the shelter for a few days after which she does not care what happens to the dog. What kind of an attitude is this? A true rescuer would ensure that the dog ends up with its owners or otherwise in safe hands instead of placing it in a situation where its life is hanging by a thread. And why are people so suspicious? She could have just researched a little to find out that Animalcare is a full-fledged NGO!
And Judith, please file a formal complaint with the SPCA on the fact that you had called to check and a staff had said that no such dog had been brought in. This is indicative that she does not know what goes into the shelter but had taken it upon herself to behave as if she did. Imagine if Rosemary had not contacted you??? You would not have known that you much loved dog was in SPCA and he could have been adopted by someone else or worse still PTS. Please write in as I am sure that the SPCA management does not tolerate such tardiness.
