Just as we had our own trapped cat story (http://animalcare.my/2012/02/13/what-to-do-if-your-animal-is-trapped/) recently, which, fortunately, ended well (the cat was rescued), here’s another successful rescue story from the U.S.
It’s nice to know that in Michigan, one could call their Humane Society should rescue aid be needed for animals, and nicer to know that they have the humanpower, equipment and heart to respond.

I wish we had such rescue groups in our towns, too. Let’s not wait for the government to set it up.
Any interested groups?
Thank you, Tan, for sharing the story from Michigan.

Unfortunately, animals cannot vote so they are at the bottom of the priority list as far as govts are concerned. But it is not impossible for a few animal welfare NGOs to get together to share the costs of running an Animal Rescue Unit. They need a van for the transport of the rescued animal(s) and a roster of volunteers so that rescues can be conducted from say 8am to midnite each day or 16 hours a day. The van has to be equipped with everything for rescues from first aid kits to gloves, cages, ladder, blankets, etc. Volunteers also need to be trained to do proper rescue work, both to protect themselves and the animals, and also learn basic medical treatment for injured and sick animals.
