I was not able to be at the vet’s today, but anyhow, since we have a subsidy scheme now, there is also no necessity for me to be present at the vet’s. Confidentiality between vet and client is to be respected.
Previously, we sponsored 100%, so I would have to be present.
Anyway, this is what Amira wrote to me in an sms after her visit:
I already see the vet. The kittens that had a wound under its head is because the virus…the smallest one, around her neck had a dead cell that was white…that cause a smell…I decide to let the kittens died naturally.
I was a little worried upon receiving this sms. It sure sounded like it was terminal, so I called the clinic and spoke with the vet assistant.
I was relieved when was told that what the cats/kittens had was mange (and not anything more serious). No kitten is in danger of dying right now. All have been put on Vetri DMG and one cat had an ear infection and is on medication.
The bill was RM140 and Amira has paid for it. I have told her to claim 50% from us should she need the financial help.
Apparently, Amira misunderstood me when I said “we will subsidise 50% up to a maximum of RM500”. She told the vet assistant that I said the charges would be RM500.
Sigh….
Communication breakdown!
Even our volunteer who helped lead her to the vet today had a total communication breakdown with Amira. I shall spare you all the details.
But whatever it is, we hope this little bit of help that we have provided has planted a “seed” in Amira that as a pet-owner, she has to bring her cats to the vet when they are sick. She cannot throw the responsibility onto someone else.
We hope for the best and wish her well.

Perhaps she is overwhelmed? Got all wrapped up with all the problems and could not see things clearer? Some people are made that way.
Well, perhaps she still needs ‘long-distance’ guidance for a little while?
When I read the last SMS transcript ” I decide to let the kittens died naturally”, I thought all the kittens have passed on…sigh! Thank God that they did not & whatever the lil’ kittens having is not terminal….
Oops..considering that there are many communication breakdown with Amira, I hope she understand that her kittens conditions are treatable & will not do something that will harm the kittens.
