Verona updated just now that the owner called her and has now claimed the dog. Apparently, the dog ran out this morning and the owner has been looking for him since then. The owner was able to accurately describe a mole on the dog’s back.
We were the only one who published Verona’s hp, so it was through this post that the owner contacted Verona – thank you, everyone, if you had forwarded our link to your contacts!

Dr Chan, I would like to be involved in some small way as thanks for reuniting me with Emilio the schnauzer. Please let me know how, on top of a donation.
So happy that Emilio has been reunited with you, Karen. You can always help us spread the message of CNRM, and if you like our tshirts, do get one for yourself and introduce it to your friends and family. All proceeds go to our fund to help the animals. Thanks!
I will be ordering a dozen or so!! I’m still in disbelief. The knot in my stomach is STILL unravelling!
Thanks so much again!!
I remember when my Bobby escaped out of the gate, it was a total nightmare for me, too. He was spotted but nobody could catch him. The old guy was running like a horse!
Doc, I love all animals but truly Emilio is D U M B! Veron told me her dad just opened the car door and Emilio just jumped in!! How to teach a dog not to talk to strangers? Hehehe.
Maybe he is smarter than you give him credit for. He knew Veron’s dad wants to help him, so he jumped in. Emilio knew he was lost and here was someone willing to help him, so he took up the offer! Dogs can sense our intentions. So, Emilio is actually smart!
Hmm, that’s one way of looking at it! Trust the mathematician and her law of averages 🙂
Let me tell you a little about my four footed family.
I’ve always wanted dogs, but until I was past 20 and working, my parents said no to dogs because of the commitment it would take. It was only when I was old enough, though still living at home in Bangsar, did my dad give me the gree light to get a dog. I knew right away I wanted a rescue animal. Lucas was on Death Row at the SPCA. He had been adopted twice and returned. Adopted a third time and abandoned at a boarding kennel. He was a pariah to the max. Brown street dog, no redeeming features, stick up Yoda (from Star Wars) ears. He was soon followed by terrier mix Lia, also from SPCA. She was a dog who choose me.
Lucas had to be put down due to renal failure. It happened when I was on honeymoon in New Zealand. Lia was just put to sleep peacefully after 14 lovely years with me.
I rescued a toy poodle from an owner who bought on impulse and whose husband hated the dog. I have been partial to big dogs all my life and this scrawny rat was not my kind of pooch at first. But she grew on me, like most dogs will.
Emilio the Schnauzer and his best pal Sergio the Shi Tzu belong to my friend who took a job in China. She knew it was wrong to bring them when she would be working long hours. The duo stayed at a high end groomers in Lucky Garden for close to 6 months. When we bought our own house, my husband offered Emilio and Sergio a real home and they have been with us since 2009. Both dogs are old – Sergio is 13, with problem eyes needing daily medication and cleaning.
Emilio has had massive dental work, and had less than half his teeth still! He also has the habit of marking, but because he was old when he came, the vets advised against castration, saying it may not cut out marking in an older dog.
So now the big dog lover has three small fellers, and believes God works for the best always.
I’ll be checking your site often. Please feel free to SOS if you need assistance in editorial (writing), or photography. My hubby and I run a business together and are always glad to help in whatever capacity we can.
Keep in touch and may you always walk the right path.
God bless.
Hi! Hope Emilio is doing well.. My dad came home looking for him =P.. Emilio’s a great dog that my dad was even prepared to adopt him if we couldn’t find you despite having 4 dogs… LOL… He’s not as dumb as you think as he didn’t try to run away at all from us yesterday despite not knowing us at all.. Guess he figured to stay put till you would be able to find him =)
Was so happy that he found you that i could hardly sleep last night =) Can’t imagine what you went through yesterday
Dear Dr Chan,
Thank you for doing all that you do…and I’m so glad that Emilio’s sixth sense at least is not dumb in choosing who to follow – well let’s give him the benefit of the doubt that he was offered many rides and he finally picked Veron’s dad, bingo. Emilio good boy!
Big stranger hugs,
Jade
Wah… what a happy ending and so fast. Real good to hear that lost kid has found its mum!
