From one of our readers:
Yesterday, there is this indian foreign worker that rode a bicycle and dump kittens at various locations at my housing area. I heard a kitten meowing while I was bathing my dog. When I went out to have a look, I saw this little fella trying to cross the busy street in front of my house. I picked the kitten up, not sure what to do. After abt 20 mins or so, there’s this loud meowing again passing by my house. Saw this indian fella riding cycling towards a small road nearby, so went there to have a look. Found another kitten dumped there, exactly the same as the one that I’ve picked up.I’ve got 6 cats at home, and they were not too happy with me bringing the kittens home. Called SPCA, was told that I can surrender the kittens to them, provided that I reached there by 4pm. Managed to reach there around 3.30pm. SPCA agreed to take the kittens in, but a long-term volunteer over there told me that the kittens might be put to sleep on Mon if nobody adopts them by then. Was advised to take the kitten home and foster for a week, before sending them back to SPCA on Sat morning. I did not want them to be PTS, so i brought them home again. At night, managed to pick up another kitten (suspect that it was dumped by the same indian fella) while coming back from dinner. My cats are already hissing and fighting one another for the entire time I took the kittens at home. This morning while walking my dog, I managed to locate another kitten near the kindergarden in front of my house. However, I did not pick this kitten up as he/she was hiding and I was unable to reach out for him/her.Now I’ve resorted to place the kittens in an empty aquarium in my car porch. (Sorry, as this is the best way that I can do to foster them without getting my cats to fight with one another).I’ve put up a pet profile in petfinder, hoping that others that saw their profile might be interested to adopt them. I don’t think I want to bring them back to SPCA. How would PAWS handle stray kittens? Will they PTS the kittens also?I am asking as I do not think that placing the kittens in an empty aquarium is the best way to foster them, but if that is the best way to foster them before they get adopted, I will be doing that.
As I understand, PAWS also has a euthanasia policy but with its new cattery now, PAWS has the largest cattery in Malaysia so I assume they would have space. The euthanasia policy, as I understand, applies when animals are sickly, too old, too young, aggressive or there is insufficient space. For more information, please contact the relevant shelters.

You can put the kittens up for adoption online. Try to put on petfinder.com and KTAJ website too.
I am a volunteer of animal shelters too… try your level best not to send them to shelters, i’ve seen healthy kittens and newborn puppies being PTS too. Every single time I go to the shelter and will for sure cry at least 1 time seeing PTS cases. If they have a policy to PTS, you should do it to the sick animals (really hopeless cases only). Of course I’ll be very happy if there’s no PTS at all but if given a choice, i ‘ll choose the sick ones rather than taking a newborn’s life.
I really dun understand the quota system over there, but certain pet shops and selfish breeders should be responsible for every life taken by PTS. Very sad. Thanks
I have an extra cage that i am not using now and can loan it out to you to place the kittens. If you are interested, please email me at yokemei76@gmail.com.
Thanks.
Hi Yoke Mei..thanks for your offer. I have a carrier to place the kittens. Problem is that I can’t place the kittens in my house due to my cats. My cats are indoor, and my dogs are outdoor. The smell of the kittens are all over the house even though i placed them in the carrier, and placed the carrier in my study. My cats are fighting and hissing with one another.
If I placed the carrier outside, my dogs will definately harrass the kittens. So the safest place to put the kittens without endangering them and without stressing my cats is the 4-feet aquarium outside.
I am blessed in a way that when I brought the kittens over to my vet for check-up, my vet mentioned that her friend is looking for a kitten. Now, the kittens are still at my vet’s place, pending for her friend to come over.
Also, quite a lot of people are interested with the kittens, so I think the kittens will most prolly get to go home during the weekend….
Good to hear that there are people who is interested to adopt them. Adoption is one thing, neutering is another. Do ensure that the adopters will neuter the kittens when they are old enough. Else, our society will never be able to solve this current situation of strays. All the best to the kitties and you too….
an update on the kittens. My vet’s friend took one of them yday. On top of that, my vet did not want to charge me on the kitty’s check up, deworming and they took care of the kittens since monday evening.
I took back the remaining two yday, will be fostering until this weekend. Got a potential adopter who’s willing to take both, and promised to spay them when they are old enough.
