Medical subsidy for Hugo, rescued dog (Teresa Chian Li Kim’s)

Hugo has 5 bills totaling RM307.00. We have subsidised RM153.50 for the treatment and medication for Hugo, which is 50% of the total sum.

Dear Kah Yein,

On February 27, I spotted a friendly puppy with very bad skin condition loitering around my neighbourhood. He is clearly a newcomer in the area because our community dogs have very nice coats. So, I rescued and named the puppy, Little Hugo (then 3 months old). I Immediately consulted the vet and Hugo was diagnosed with mites and fungus. He will have to eat medicine, shower with Malaseb on alternate days and be powdered with Mycoderm twice a day for about 6 – 9 weeks. Hugo has to go back for check-up every 2 weeks and to replenish medication.

Towards the end of April, his skin condition has recovered to about 90% and is a healthy and happy puppy. He socialises well with other dogs. Knows how to sit and is toilet-trained. Has been de-wormed.

Does he qualify for the medical subsidy?
