Medical subsidy for Pendek (Maslinda Abd Talib’s)

Here is a story from Maslinda Abu Talib about two newly rescued cats. Just yesterday, Maslinda requested for subsidy for their spaying and the appointment had been set for Thursday.

Yesterday evening, one of them passed away suddenly.

Here’s what happened, from Maslinda:

Remember i texted u yesterday that i already set an appointment for two ginger cats, Pendek & Puteh  tomorrow? unfortunately, pendek died yesterday. it’s a shock. i didnt notice significance changes to the habit except that she no longer sleeps on my bed since monday. i thot it’s ok since it’s quite hot these few days, even my other cats sleeps at the living room as well

yesterday morning, i put her with me on bed coz she normally sleeps with me. but she refuse to lie down. she only do that for about 5minutes before standing up again. that’s where i start to realized that for the whole day, she’s not sitting down. at about 6pm, she starts to breath rapidly, but not gasping. but i have class at 6pm, after my class, rushed to gasing vet. when the vet saw her and asked few questions, she was brought for x ray. first it’s done on the Left lung, where there’s lot of fluid. not event 2 mins later, x ray was done on the right side and by this time, the lung is barely visible, full with fluids. the vet withdraw fluids from the lung where she got stressed up a bit and immediately gasping. even the vet says if she keeps on stressed up, she might be gone anytime. the fluid withdrawal was done swiftly and slowly just to prevent her from stressing up. the fluid need to be withdrawn to see the color and after that able to decide on medication. if it’s thick and yellow/green, it’s pus (the vet hoped it was pus so can give antibiotic)

it was clear n yellowish in color which highly suggest that it’s an FIP. then that’s where pendek starts to gasping, despite been given oxygen, she’s gone. i request for resuscitation and the vet intubate and try to resuscitate her. for about 6 minutes, then i just asked the vet to stop as i can see that she cant be revived.

her passing is quite shocking to me as she and her sibling, putih was all well and they are friendly, even when she met the vet before going for x ray, she’s been friendly to him as well. i helped to foster them since march by request from a good friend of mine (the cats wasnt hers) as their current owner are having some difficulties (health problem etc). in fact, the owner are about to take both of them back on 17th June, so i decided to get them spayed before sending them back. the owner have been told. they are good owner coz they’ll text me every week and i’ll send them their photos weekly for the progress.

as she might be having an FIP, today i’m doing some sanitization in my house and all cages, toys etc.
