Oh my goodness…what are the dogs doing there?

Bernice sent this over the weekend. Anyone from Penang knows what is going on?

She was out canoeing and noticed two doggies on this floating structure. Have they been abandoned or are they left there was guard dogs? The floating structure is 100m from land which makes it impossible for the doggies to swim back.

Paddle over there and take a look. Bring dog food and fresh water with you.

There were several other floating structures all around the island…Saw a few off Sungai Pinang coast as well, but these were quite well maintained. Asked around, and it seems that these structures are actually built to rare fishes for human consumption. They are called Farmed fishes (which my dad said was quite sad since they are bred in small enclosures, and their meat is harder, perhaps because of stress?). On every single one of these structures were tiny upside down tubs…Housing dogs. So yes, these dogs are there as security guards. But what a life….Stuck on a floating structure, exposed to the elements, and forever rocking with the waves. They can’t really walk around as well, because the structures were not built as one solid platform, but rather forms a grid, like a mathematics exercise book. So that leaves them with tiny planks to walk on.

      Oh gosh, that’s so cruel.
