In February 2012, I wrote about Busa, a rescued cat with a fractured backbone. Billie and Puspa were both first-time rescuers, but they did not give up on Busa.
Here’s the flashback: http://animalcare.my/2012/02/28/busa-puspa-and-billie-be-inspired/
It’s been more than a year now, and here are some happy updates sent by Billie today:
Dear Dr Chan,
I hope you still remember Busa, whom we found almost 1 / 1/2 yrs ago. I also hope you did get two videos recorded between March 2012 and 2nd on Nov 2013, showing the progress of busa movement.(from Lydia via facebook)Yesterday, I was at the vet for treatment of busa urin inflammation & I was curious of her physical improvement, so I asked for a new X-ray as I felt the fracture on her back seem to be smaller. And I was very happily surprised.Attached are two of the x-rays one from feb 2012 and one from 29-3-2013. you will notice the 4th lomb was clearly fractured in the 2012 X-ray compared to the present. I am so happy I just filled you in on busa as I earlier promised to.At present, busa gets a hour of walking/movement on grass after my work. She is a joy, esp since we failed badly in trying to rescue a cat and a dog a few months back. If you, have any advise on how to improve her rehabilitation faster, please inform. I have tried wheelchair, water therapy , socks so she can also move in my apt(folks say floor slippery) but did not help.Thank you for your time.Best regards to you,Lydia and all your saved animals.Billie/PuspaHi Dr Chan,
I have two videos of busa one is shortly after her operation around April 2012 and the 2nd is Nov 2012. The improvement is vast( i think) between a period of 6months. Luckily, I rejected the vet advise of putting busa to permanent sleep and I hope others will not so easily listen to vets without thinking twice. This is the same vet that took his 2nd X-ray & he was surprised by the differences, hopefully he will stop advising method of euthanasia easily to others. When i was told to put busa to sleep, I felt extremely sadden eventho i only know busa for a few weeks. How can i play god by making a decision that only god can decide. This is a LIFE involved.thanks & I hope for even better improvement for busa & ev encouragement for others to cont their brave struggle to save these poor animals.Billie
