A cat-lover turned dog-lover’s story

Here is another heartwarming sharing from one of our readers:

It takes a lot of courage to protect innocent animals. You remember (name withheld)? She’s the ones with many rescued cats. Ever since I’ve known her she’s really afraid of dogs (turned white and pale) even the smallest dog came near her at the vet. But she had seen me with dogs i.e. rottweilers, pit-bulls etc.

She moved to a new place and she started feeding a stray dog – we discussed re the issue on the how she was made to believe that dogs are completely forbidden. I told her otherwise – dogs cannot be eaten just like cats but if you abuse a dog you still book your place in hell. In fact, Muslim sect Sufism (Turkish) is vegetarians.

Three weeks’ ago I got a frantic call from her – need to take an accident victim, a dog to the vet. I direct her to my vet. To my surprise this tiny young lady with the fear of dogs had stopped traffic on the way to work – dragged and carried an injured 20+ kg dog to safety. Two lorry drivers stopped and helped her to put the dog into her car. The dog died upon arrival at the vet. She was devastated and crying. We called Pet Memorial to care for his final journey and gave the respect he deserves. I felt it was a turning point in her life – the mouse has turned into a Lion. (She gets bullied a lot – I always tell her to stop being mousy and walk as if she’s 10 feet tall!)

Now, more than ever we need the courage to protect the innocent animals of which the act of cruelties on them had increased lately due to negatives propaganda’s from all sides. Lately we have been getting so many negatives literatures in our letter boxes of which one was really endangering the lives of canines in particular.

  1. I am very-very afraid of dogs also but it broke my heart to see the stray dogs searching for food at the dustbin. I tried several time to give them bread from inside my car but they seem dont like it (T-T)

It’s okay, Masni. We all have our fears. I am very afraid of snakes. I don’t hate them, I’m just afraid of them. So I totally understand your fear. At least you were not afraid to give them bread – that’s a good thing you did, and it’s your intention that counts. Some dogs eat bread, some don’t. Maybe they prefer meat or something more tasty? Some stray cats also don’t eat kibbles!

As always…Thank you for caring enough to make a difference. No matter what others may say, it is human nature to care and love. Human nature…Many are lacking it.
