Medical subsidy for Kitty (Nur Adlina Mansor’s)

Ref: http://animalcare.my/2013/05/25/updates-kitten-is-much-better-now-nur-adlina-mansors/

Kitty was one of two siblings, rescued by Nur Adlina. Both kittens were still being nursed by the mum-cat but Nur Adlina noticed that Kitty wasn’t doing too well and his eyes were bulging. Kitty was brought to the vet and some medicines were given. We have subsidised RM25.95 for this treatment (50% of the bill of RM51.90). This subsidy comes from all donors through our Medical Fund.

Kitty appeared to well and began suckling again, which was all good.

Hi,

I just submitted the claim. Sorry I couldn’t do it sooner because I was preparing for an interview.

The kitten is doing much better. Much healthier than before. He eats and drinks and plays. Thank you for your help.

However, what I’m concerned right now are his eyes 🙁 everyday they are getting worse, sticking out more and more each day. I dont know why. He’s not showing any pain from it. I think I should take him to the vet again 🙁

Hi,
I just took the kitty to the vet this morning. the doctor said his eyes are really bad and he has to undergo an operation to remove his eyes (most probably both eyes) 🙁 the operation is estimated at RM300. which is quite a lot for me. but I really want the kitty to live a long and healthy life. even if it means he has to be blind for the rest of his life 🙁

so I left the kitty at the vet and the operation will take place this evening. I will email you of any updates about the kitty.

I was wondering though if I’m still eligible to apply for a subsidy for the operation bill from myanimalcare. it would Really help with my financial situation.
Regards,
Adlina
We will be subsidising Kitty’s surgery and we shared with Nur Adlina that cats can still live a happy and healthy life without their sense of vision but that it would be best to keep Kitty indoors and help kitty to adjust to her new condition. Meanwhile, we have also suggested that a second opinion may be useful.

Thank you so much.

the doctor didn’t exactly say but he did ask me how his eyes got that way. I don’t know either. after I took him to the vet the other day I gave him all the meds + eye drops, his health got so much better but his eyes were inching out more and more each day 🙁

yes, his mother is still nursing him and his sister. and I thought of naming him Miracle because he IS a living miracle.

I hope he will get better soon. and thank you so much for your help.

Regards,

Adlina

I think a second opinion is useful too.
3 weeks ago I rescued a kitten with a bulge eye (possibly due to herpes virus) and took it to the vet. She had the flu and antibiotic was given. However, the vet advised against giving it eye drops but just clean the eye with saline solution. In the mean time I have to have her gain weight to about 1 Kg before the surgery to remove the eye could be done. She is currently only 600 gms.
Please consider the kitten’s weight and health before going through any surgery.
