Sir David Attenborough says humans need to stop breeding

Here’s what the renowned naturalist says: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/01/22/david-attenborough-radio-times-interview-population_n_2524315.html

An excerpt:

David Attenborough has described humans as a “plague on Earth” that need to slow down breeding to stop the world’s population being reduced by more brutal means.

Speaking to the Radio Times, the beloved naturalist said the impact of the rapidly increasing population “will come home to roost over the next 50 years or so.”

Capture

In a lecture for the campaign group, which believes that reducing the world’s population will lessen environmental problems, Attenborough said .

“As I see it, humanity needs to reduce its impact on the earth urgently and there are three ways to achieve this: we can stop consuming so many resources, we can change our technology and we can reduce the growth of our population.”

“All our environmental problems become easier to solve with fewer people and harder — and ultimately impossible to solve — with ever more people.”

I was once actually asked why AnimalCare funds are not extended to humans.

For neutering? Or medical treatment, I asked.

He said it was for medical treatment. And since science teaches us that humans are a “type” of animal, we should extend it to humans too, he argued.

I then asked him if he was a “stray”.

The conversation ended there.

A quote from Matrix:

Agent Smith: I’d like to share a revelation that I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you’re not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague and we are the cure.

LOL!

But seriously….

It’s true! Our population is growing faster than our environment can support! If there were a more powerful (and far more sensible) species running the show, they would most certainly establish a MyHumanCare to trap/neuter/release us.

      LOL!!

“Are you a stray?” … that’s an excellent answer. I choked on my breakfast milo laughing 😀

I am an advocate for sterilisation. By sterilisation, we also prevent unwanted abortions and the birth of useless or unwanted beings.

We should sterilise the following category of people (feel free to add): –
    1) All inmates in jail, irregardless of their crime (starting with rapists, paedophiles, murderers, ….)
    2) Prostitutes
    3) People who sleeps around and not want to commit
    4) People with HIV+
    5) Animal abusers ….

That’s very harsh. Let’s just start with the animal abusers – that would eliminate 95% of the population, since anyone who is not vegan abuses animals! (What about you, Joy E. Saga?)

I’d be happy to add to your list, Joy, for No.5:

        a)People who eat meat
        b)People who wear furs
c)People who use leather derived from live animals
d)People who hunt as a past time

This is one of the many factors, my friends and I decide not to have children by choice. Some only stick to 1 child policy, by choice. Apart from being ‘plague to the earth’, the society today is not getting better from politics, to economics (esp. high cost of living standards). Hence, many of us adopt a child or having loads of fur kids. 🙂

I CANNOT believe there are people who asked about funds extent to humans. Aiyoh!

Actually the person who asked runs a humanitarian charity as well. He said his funds cannot be extended to animals because “humanitarian” meant “only for humans”. But he asked if we could extend our funds to humans because humans are also a type of animal. That is why I asked if he were a stray. :))

I exceptionally like the question – are you a stray? Good one, Dr. Chan!

in asia, its difficult for the parents to understand why the young do not want to have children. my parents and my bf’s parents do not agree when we decided that we do not want to have children -for economical reason and also looking at the state of the world now like the environment, opportunity, crime and all that) its a scary world and i would not want another child into this world just for my elders.
