Missing Senja: the story of a lost pet-dog nursed by a compassionate Muslim family

Get ready some tissues to shed tears of joy, folks:

It has a happy ending: Senja was reunited with his human family.

Some quotes:

To put it simply, Senja was such a “good” dog he brought out the good in us. A blessing, really.

You need tissues here:

Before he was whisked away, I pressed my hand against the car window. Senja responded by pressing his nose against the glass where I’d placed my palm. For a moment, he looked confused. Was that sadness I saw in his eyes? And then, he was gone!

Beautiful wisdom:

It has been 10 months since he left us and he is still dearly missed. As a Muslim, I believe it was fate that brought Senja into my life. And it is because we are Muslims that my family and I thought nothing of caring for a dog in dire need of help and protection. He is after all God’s creation too.

Among other things, my faith teaches me to be compassionate and I am grateful that my family and I kept true to our faith where Senja was concerned. Although we kept to the boundaries prescribed by Islam in handling a dog, we did not feel much restricted by them. In fact, I personally find these guidelines liberating because they allowed me to follow my faith and, at the same time, guided me on how to care for and love this dog that God had entrusted to me temporarily.

Beautiful!! Oh-so-very-beautiful!!

This is truly beautiful. Tears welled up in my eyes when I read this in the papers when it was first published. Bless the good heart of this beautiful Muslim lady and her equally wonderful family who lovingly took care of Senja.

I wish the original family brings Senja (Fletcher) back to visit her from time to time.
