Tiger’s abscesses Day 7

Today was Tiger’s check-up and the vet was very pleased with his healing.

No more flushing is required now. Only the oral antibiotics (one more week) and topical application of povidone iodine and the Polybamycin ointment.  Hopefully, there will be no secondary abscesses.

The vet shaved a little bit more upwards just to check and thankfully, there was nothing there.

He also explained that higher up (back of the neck) where I’ve always noticed dry scabs is not reachable by mouth, so those wounds were likely to be caused by leg scratches. Hence, those were not as serious as bite wounds. The claws from the legs probably only scratched superficially and these wounds healed without infection on the inside.

The bite wounds that we are treating now were likely to be caused by Tiger’s canines, self-inflicted during his seizures; and they penetrated deep, causing infection in the deeper layers under the skin.

There is still some slight inflammation now but we will let the white blood cells (neutrophils and macrophages (aka “Pac-men”)) and antibiotics take care of that.

The soft mass on the side is very much flattened out already too.

Thank you, everyone, for wishing Tiger well.
