The Greystokes to the vet’s

Today, the Greystoke Family went to the vet’s for a check-up and deworming.

Yes, everyone was dewormed. The kittens were weighed and of course, gained healthy weight. Smurfy gained weight too.  However, Minnie lost about 150g. The vet says she needs to eat more and also have sufficient protein. Weight loss is not uncommon for nursing mothers, but since Minnie has the advantage of having her weight monitored and being looked after, I should ensure she has sufficient protein so that there is no weight loss. The vet recommended RC’s Weaning for Minnie as well as the kittens. I bought a bag to try.

Smurfy was checked as well and he should be ready to be neutered in about 2 weeks’ time. I need to also watch out if Minnie or Smurfy comes into heat. Smurfy already has his set of adult teeth now, so he is at least 6 months old.

All the kittens have their baby teeth already and so, they should be weaned off breastmilk lest they bite Minnie and this could lead to a mammary gland infection.

After each kitten was checked and dewormed, they quickly went to Minnie to nurse for comfort.

After coming home.

Smurfy was hungry.

This cute little upside-down kitten is Rey.

Yes, this cheeky little thing is Rey.

Rey demonstrates the “I’m dead tired” look.

“We are dead tired”!

Minnie ate the Weaning kibble but only once upon returning home. Now, she doesn’t want it anymore. Guess we would have to rely on raw food to give her all the protein she needs. She has to eat more.

Much, much more, so that she won’t lose weight. It’s not easy task feeding four hungry mouths!
