When it comes to doing subcut, Bunny is the best candidate of them all.
Pole needs subcut daily while it’s twice a week for Bunny and Cleo.
When it comes to Bunny, even though he is asleep in his tunnel, all I have to do is to call him and he will come out on his own. He doesn’t complain or resist at all. He will come on his own to get his subcut done.
Truly, Bunny is the best!
He used to need 200ml twice a week, but because he is usually not dehydrated, I can reduce it to 150ml for maintenance. I would do the pinch test first to determine how much he needs, so it’s playing it by ear each time. Bunny’s subcut is maintained because of his FIV+ condition. Indy, on the other hand, stopped subcut last year when he was no longer dehydrated and all his kidney readings improved.
Pole needs 150ml on a daily basis. She’s not difficult to do, just a bit reluctant and not as willing as Bunny. But I can still handle her on my own. I can even change the bottle midway with Pole.
Cleo is, as always, the hardest. She resists and fights; and two people are needed for her subcut.
