Tabs’ bath

Tabs was improving from the balding after the anti-allergy and antibiotic injections and the shedding had practically stopped.

Unfortunately, two days ago, she started shedding again.

She must be allergic to something, but we don’t know what it is. The floor is always vacuum-cleaned and mopped daily.

So yesterday, I decided to try applying extra virgin coconut oil on her bald spots.

That did not work out well. Tabs must have been very upset about it and started licking at the spots and scratching feverishly. She also used her paws to try to get rid of the oil on the bald spots on her head. Everywhere seemed to be itching, including her ears. It looked like she was balding even more with all the excessive scratching.

After seeing how uncomfortable she was, I decided to give her a bath as that would be the only way to wash off the oil.

So Tabs had her first bath. I expected her to struggle but surprisingly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I used warm water and a very mild soap to wash her as quickly as I could, then we dried her using a towel.

Luckily it was a very hot day, so Tabs dried quite fast.

After the bath, she seemed so much more comfortable.

Very sorry about the coconut oil, Tabs.

We can only wait it out now.

I think the bath also washed off some of the allergens because she did not scratch anymore after that.
