Ginger’s great escape (again!!)

It’s our fault.

We had visitors and as the visitors were leaving, the front door was left open a few seconds too long. Naughty Ginger must have been waiting for the opportunity so he dashed out. I was right there but could not catch him.

He’s so big but so fast!

I followed him out calmly and he was right there, just outside our house by the drain. I approached him as calmly and nonchalantly as I could, but cats are empath and they know. He knew I was going to thwart his plans for a day out, so he jumped into the drain. That’s it, he is beyond reach already.

Once he gets into the drain, it’s his territory. I know there’s no way I could catch him.

Kucing Longkang!

That was at 12noon.

There was nothing we could do but to wait for him to return. And it was just after his lunch, so he won’t be hungry so soon. Maybe he won’t even be hungry by dinner time and might not return.

Just be safe, Ginger.

Daffodil, your son loves to roam outside. We tried our best.

Actually, after the family were confined within Stargate2 in our house, Daffodil also made a great escape once and only came back after THREE days. I contacted an animal communicator to help at that time and she said Daffodil just wanted to roam outside for awhile and would come back. She did come back…after three days.

So, I think Daffodil will understand why Ginger likes to make these escapes. The family had lived as community cats before we moved here and adopted them.

Please keep your son safe, Daffodil.

My husband went out to buy lunch and when he came back, he spotted Ginger under our next-door neighbour’s car which was parked right outside their house. Ginger was having a nap.

Hmm….that’s good. At least we know where he is. I told my husband I’d try to get him back. He said it’s probably a waste of time since Ginger might not want to come home yet. Belum puas ronda.

After I had my lunch, armed with a can of tuna, a jar of Greenies and a metal bowl, I went out to try my best to entice him to come out from under the car and catch him.

Haha…what do you know, Ginger had already come back to our porch and was sleeping under my husband’s car!

Okay, this is so much better.

So very calmly, I approached the car, bent down and placed the can of tuna in the metal bowl next to the car, and waited.

Ginger came out almost instantly and went for the can of tuna!!

Then, I caught him and brought him back inside the house.

That’s it. No drama.

But he needs to understand that coming home is a good and correct action so he had to be rewarded and never reprimanded.

So, he got the tuna and the Greenies!

Isn’t it so much better staying home, Ginger?

Will there be another great escape in the near future? Sigh…I guess we’d just have to be very careful whenever we open the door. As my husband had observed, Ginger strategises and looks for opportunities. He’s a master at strategy and planning.
