This is a quick update on Cow’s recent episodes: https://animalcare.my/2022/04/26/cows-strange-back-biting-episodes-is-it-hyperesthesia/
The vet said Cow’s episode today was most likely a mild seizure because there was loss of urine control. So, before we start him on any anti-seizure medication, the vet recommended that we put Cow and everyone in his colony (Bunny, Cleo and Indy) on Advocate spot-on first.
This is because the mild seizure could be triggered by an ectoparasite bite, so we should try the spot-on to rule this out first.
So, Cow’s intense biting could be due to an ectoparasite, acute pain or itchiness. We don’t know which but it is best to rule out the ectoparasite first.
Cow was scheduled to have his dental procedure tomorrow, but because of this issue, it will be postponed until we settle this first.

Meanwhile, there has not been any other episode besides the one I witnessed about two hours ago. He is sleeping peacefully on the pillow.
I hope the cause of the seizure is indeed due to the ectoparasite and it can be resolved with the spot-on so that we don’t have to explore further or put Cow on drugs. I’ll have to get the spot-on for everyone as soon as I can.
Then, it’s all about monitoring him.
An update: I’ve applied the Advocate spot-on on Cow, Bunny and Indy. As for Cleo, will need help…haha. Got to wait for my husband to come back first. The vet said at least two doses so that would be for two months.
