What’s going on in Bunny’s Place

After the enema, Bunny had some lingering problems with loose stools. This did not happen for his previous enemas, but it did this time. Still, I’ve informed the vet and now it’s all about adjusting his Cisapride and Lactulose dosages. The vet had earlier advised that Bunny’s subcut should be increased from 200ml to 230ml and that he should go back on the coconut fiber too. We are doing this now, but it’s again a delicate balance in order to get it “just right”.

Cow has definitely stopped licking rocks! He stopped immediately after we started the Maltofer (iron supplement) liquid. So it was a case of lacking in iron or some minerals. Thank goodness it wasn’t anaemia. But it certainly pays to be cautious and to get it checked.

Indy is back to being very choosy with food. So what’s new, right?

And Cleo is also back to her anorexic meals. Again, nothing new. She has actually filled out quite nicely now, so it looks like she knows how much food she needs.

Feeding Bunny, however, is very challenging nowadays. He has periods of “craze”. At one time, he was crazy about raw chicken meat and that’s all he wanted. I know it isn’t balanced but when he refuses to eat anything else, “fed is best”, isn’t it?  As one of our vets advised, “As long as they eat”.  Then, the craze ends abruptly and he’d be crazy over some canned food. And that ends as well, and I’ll have to go look for another type of food for him. Otherwise, he would just stare at me and wait…until I get the right food for him. It’s not easy. I don’t know if it’s a case of his poor sense of smell, where he cannot smell the food therefore he doesn’t eat. So I tried adding hot water to his food to see if it would work. I think it did…to a certain extent. Another way, the vet advised, is to warm up the food. For cats who depend so much on their sense of smell, if they cannot smell it, they will not eat. That is why it’s actually quite serious when a cat has the flu. When they cannot smell, they will not eat.

Bunny doesn’t have the flu. I think it’s a case of his sense of smell being less efficient with age, perhaps? I don’t know. I’m simply guessing here.

It’s the hot season again, so Bunny loves sitting out here in the garden on these slabs. All four of them seem so much happier with the plastic roof now. Now, why on earth didn’t we get this done earlier?

By the way, the reason some of the spots in Bunny’s Garden is left barren is that these are Bunny’s poo-spots. We will not do anything to disturb these “sacred” places, for indeed, “to poo, is divine”.
