The huge Indy-Ginger fight at dawn

In the past few days, there has been a bit of a fighting going on among the Brothers-4 (this would be Smurfy, Rey, Robin and Lynx). I think it started with another cat-visitor coming into our compound. That made everyone go on red alert and it was actually little Robin who led the defense team at Stargate2 against this visitor.

Yes, believe it or not, little Robin led the team!

After that, the brothers were heard engaging in scuffles, but they were quite friendly and playful ones, definitely NOTHING like the fights that Cow, Bunny and Indy grew up with. Those would always result in taking both cats to the vet, maybe even requiring lancing under sedation to drain the pus from the wounds and me having to get an anti-tetanus jab.

Every morning, without fail, I would open Stargate to let Minnie and her sons go over the Bunny’s Place to visit and eat Heidi’s grass. They look forward to these visits very much. Sometimes, Ginger also joins in these visits, and all has been well.

Those of you who follow this blog would know that Indy and Ginger are sworn mortal enemies.

But all has been well until this morning…

A huge fight broke out between Indy and Ginger in Bunny’s Garden. By the time I rushed in, the two were embroiled in the tussle, bodies locked, fur flying into the air. I quickly took the garden hose and sprayed at them, but believe it or not, they refused to let go. Sigh… I continued spraying water as there was nothing else I could do and finally, they let go but wanted to resume fighting again! So I sprayed at both until they went their separate ways. I did see Ginger’s claw on Indy’s eye as well.

I got Ginger back to his catio and wiped him dry. Then I wiped Indy too. Indy was making blood-stained marks on the floor. I checked and it was a paw wound. It did not look too bad, but we can never be sure. It might tunnel inwards. So I quickly gave Indy Vetri DMG and Beazyme (anti-inflammatory). I gave the same to Ginger too. The last time Indy had to go on two antibiotics for a paw wound that he tunneled through to the other side of his paw. It took 2 weeks to heal and two visits to the vet. It had just started as a puncture wound, but it got complicated.

So who won? Not that it mattered but Ginger won. Not a scratch on him at all. It has been this way for about 2-3 years now with the Super Seniors catching up with age. Ginger wins all the fights.

When the fight broke up, Minnie-5 was completely traumatised and fled back to their catio, jumped up the platform. Robin took refuge in the condo. I bet they had never witnessed a “real” cat fight before. All morning, Rey stayed up on the highest platform and did not even dare to climb over to Bunny’s Place at all.

Indy went to his sick bay immediately and has been there all day now.  I cleaned his wound with Chlorohexidine and applied Fucidin on it. It did not look too bad to my untrained eye, though but neither did his last paw wound but that tunneled through and he had to be on two antibiotics.

Ginger hid under the dining table, but only for awhile. Both were obviously traumatised.

Literally licking his wounds. But I’ve checked a few times – no wounds on Ginger.

Indy was willing to eat, but I had to serve him in his sick bay. He refused to come down.

Minnie-5 ate without fanfare. They were traumatised too.

I just remembered, it is Spooky Saturday today. Hmm…

Ginger ate too.

Robin sought refuge in his condo.

Rey and Smurfy on the highest platform.

Minnie is concerned about Ginger.

Actually, Lynx has become a bully now. I saw him bullying Cow Mau (my boy, you don’t know what danger you are putting yourself into) and he even whacked Indy the other day.

Robin

Yesterday, the Brothers-4 cornered Tabs in Bunny’s Garden. Poor Tabs had gone onto one of the shelves. Three of them waited down on the grass while one came from the other end of the shelf. They were trying to bully Tabs. Husband had to go save poor Tabs who was terrified. Funny that the Brothers-4 has a wolf pack mentality which most cats do not have. Cats normally operate alone.

Indy was finally willing to descend from this sick bay to eat. But he still went back there after eating. He isn’t limping, which is good. We shall see if a vet’s visit is necessary tomorrow. His paw was slightly swollen this evening, but not significantly so. Hopefully, the Beazyme will work to reduce the inflammation.

So, we really would have to prevent Ginger and Indy from meeting for at least the next few weeks.
