Our Super Seniors are back to raw food again now! But they do still get various kinds of food for variety and satiety. Here’s Bunny and Cleo eating their lunch this afternoon.
Cleo is on 200ml subcut three times a week. She is also on Amlodipine for borderline high blood pressure and Renal-N for her chronic kidney condition.
Bunny is on more supplements as he has more medical issues. To begin with, Bunny is on lifelong Maximus Ophtal for his eyes even though he is blind. He was very prone to dry eyes and infections at one time. Maximus Ophtal really helps. Bunny also has a chronic constipation issue, so he is on Cisapride, Lactulose and a probiotic for this (I alternate between Gentle Digest and Maximus Pro GI). For his chronic kidney condition, Bunny is on 225ml subcut three times a week. Bunny is also on Omeprazole daily to help with his gastric problem. I get up one hour earlier every morning nowadays to give him the Omeprazole because it works best if given one hour before meals. I also give Bunny Vetri DMG as an immune booster.
All four super seniors get several meals a day because they cannot eat too much during each meal.

I have been giving Indy Cindy’s baby food (the pureed food with goat milk) every morning for many months now. It helps keep the breakfast regurgitation at bay very effectively. This morning, I sneaked in just 2 small pieces of raw chicken meat for him and guess what, he regurgitated his entire breakfast. So it looks like Indy can only eat this lifesaving baby food every morning. But he gets hungry very quickly and will ask for a snack after about 3 hours. So yes, he gets it and that means, everyone gets it too. By “everyone” here, I mean the four Super Seniors and the two Seniors (Tabs and Ginger). The Juniors only get 2 meals per day. Well, maybe a mid-day dehydrated chicken snack. The Juniors are all doing well with this meal plan.
For Indy, feeding is tricky. It depends on his mood. So every day I bring in a “menu” of several different foods and see what each one of our Super Seniors want. It is really like giving them a menu to choose what they like only that this menu isn’t a book, but different bowls of food. Cow Mau is the least picky of all – he usually eats whatever that is served to him. Cleo was picky for a while, but now has gone back to her staple of Coco&Joe’s. Indy is the most picky of all. Bunny used to eat whatever is served but he too has become very picky nowadays. Well, they are Super Seniors, so they get super meal service.
My raw-feeding friend tells me that biologically cats hunt at night, so they also tend to be more hungry at night. He leaves a lot of (raw) food for them at midnight and by morning, everything is finished, swept clean. Ever since learning this, I do give the Super Seniors a late night snack and yes, they tend to eat better late at night. The only thing is that I usually sleep early, so my “late night” isn’t that late.

Cow Mau, our armoured-truck cat. Our Iron-Cat. Cow Mau started having seizures in April this year, but this was very quickly put under control with 4-weekly Advocate spot-on. Flea bites can lower the threshold for seizures so our vet’s first treatment would be to put the cat on monthly anti-flea spot-on. If this works, there is no need for anti-seizure medication. We tried it and “monthly” as per the calendar month did not quite work. When it neared the 30 days, Cow would throw another seizure again. So the vet said to change it to 4 weeks. Just those 2-3 days actually made a world of difference. It works, so far. Cow Mau is also on daily Vetri DMG as an immune booster. Cow has had a total of three dental procedures with extractions, the latest was done this year too. Cow and Bunny are both FIV+ and 16 years old.

I know Bunny has protein and muscle mass loss. He only weighs 4kg now. During his hey day, he has even hit 6.7kg before. Those were the days. But Bunny is doing as well as he can be, given all his medical issues. Here’s Bunny eating up someone else’s raw food! To address the protein loss, Bunny gets many snacks in a day.

Rey continues enjoying his time with the “old folks” every day.
Rey: I volunteer at the “old folks home” every day.
Indy: Say what???
