Indy to the vet’s (eye injury)

Indy had been on the sick bay for a few days now but I didn’t suspect anything until he started squinting his left eye yesterday. I checked this eye and it looked inflamed.

So today we went to the vet’s.

Indy’s third eyelid is inflamed. He also has an ulcer but there are many blood vessels going towards it, so it is already healing on its own.

We’ve always joked that Indy is a TCM-sinseh who heals himself. TCM here refers to Traditional Cat Medicine.

Even so, I was going to take any chances. We need to get his eye treated properly (no offence to Indy’s self-healing abilities here, of course).

The vet said most likely there was an injury (but how?) and the eye is now infected. For this, Indy was given a Metacam anti-inflammatory injection (we call this the magic jab because it works wonders for our cats) and Tarivid eye drops for 7 days, plus two more days of Metacam syrup.

Indy was also dewormed.

Since Indy’s last bloodwork was in July last year, it was time to do another one. So blood was taken and the results were quite similar to last year’s so that’s a good thing.

For geriatric cats, an annual blood test is recommended.

Indy: I can still heal myself, you know.
