Yesterday Cleo’s eye got scratched by Smurfy when the boys came over to eat grass.
On my immediate check, I thought it was a scratch just below the eye and I quickly applied eyedrops to it. Cleo could not open her eyes right after the attack but very soon after that, she could. So I thought it would be okay.
But by late afternoon, the skin around the eye was pink and inflamed. I called the vet and she asked for photos. I also told her that I had Tarivid eyedrop (from Indy, purchased only 6 days ago) and Beazyme. It was too late for me to take Cleo for a check-up when I called as it was near closing time. So the vet said I could apply Tarivid and give her Beazyme.
Applying the eyedrop is doable but giving Beazyme to the Queen with the golden mouth? No way. Two people would be needed so I had to wait until husband returned from work before we managed to feed her the Beazyme tablet.

Poor Cleo. These photos were taken in the late afternoon yesterday.
After the eyedrop and the Beazyme, these are this morning’s photos:

It does look better, doesn’t it? I think we might not need a trip to the vet’s today, after all. But I’ve already made an appointment, just in case.
Unfortunately, Rey tried to attack Cleo this morning. I was just about to write a blogpost on Rey, the gentleman-cat because while Robin and Smurfy has shown aggression and Lynx has always been a meal-snatcher, Rey is/was the only one who has been very civilised and peaceful.
Not so now. I don’t know what made him suddenly attack Cleo. Luckily I was right there and I managed to stop the attack.

There has been no aggression from Rey at all until this morning. Maybe he was just playing with Cleo? But Cleo perceived it as an act of aggression and hissed back?

Rey, if you want to come over, you had better behave yourself and not annoy the elders.
But we still have not figured out a way to prevent Rey from coming over. He makes his jump over Stargate using a small little triangular space on the window sill which cannot be blocked.
