Rey almost had another fight with Cleo again this morning.
I am not sure if Rey is bullying Cleo or just asking her to play, but Cleo did not welcome his advances at all and perceived them as hostile, so she hissed back defensively and Rey would retaliate in a hostile manner too.
We just could not risk Cleo getting scratched or any of our super seniors getting injured in fights with the likes of Rey (he is big, strong and young). Rey and all his brothers have the body conformation of a cheetah. They are all muscle.
So we decided this morning that we would bar Rey from coming to Bunny’s Place by Rey-proofing Stargate where he does his ascent and descent.
If you look on the right, that’s the door of Stargate. Rey makes his ascent by scaling this gate all the way up to the top, then from there, he glides down halfway and jumps down. So we placed a polycarbonate sheet on the door so that the surface is now totally smooth. Haha…there’s no way he can climb up now. Then, I thought he would use the left side. So I made sure there’s enough branches on the left side to deter him from scaling the gate. Cats don’t like obstacles like these.
I did feel a wee bit sorry for Rey as he loves coming over. But he’s been “attacking” Cleo quite a bit for many days now and what if we are not at home to stop the fights? We cannot risk our super seniors getting injured, not at their age.
Rey did not even try to scale up the Rey-proofed Stargate. Cats just know. They don’t embarrass themselves. I recall years ago when we Daffodil-proofed Stargate2. Daffodil came to see what we were doing, then went upstairs and slept on my pillow.
That’s the attitude of cats for you. They never make a fool of themselves, unlike us humans. Or dogs, for that matter. Haha…no offence, doggies, but you do.
Rey just took over Minnie’s spot up on the lookout and took a nap.
About fifteen minutes later, I went to Bunny’s Place at the pantry and clean up the place and heard a soft sound. I looked up and guess what I saw?
Yes, you guessed right. Rey was doing a peek-a-boo at me perched on top of Stargate. He had managed to get up there with no problems at all. And he jumped down.
Rey: What’s this I heard you saying about Rey-proofing Stargate? I’m back.
