A few days ago, my husband said he sighted Samantha (the pregnant Calico in our neighbourhood) but she wasn’t pregnant at all. That cannot be because I know Samantha is only due to give birth in the middle of this month. I saw the day she was raped by NottyGinger (not our Ginger, of course, but a neighbourhood gingertom).
Then two days ago, I had the mystery solved when I saw Samantha and ANOTHER Calico cat (who looks exactly like her from afar) walking along the still-in-progress ledge of the new neighbour’s brick wall fence. Oh my goodness, there are TWO Calicos!!!
Who is this other Calico? We have no idea at all. Could it be Samantha’s sister or daughter(!) or just a friend. But the two were travelling on the ledge like the very best of friends. And no, my eyes were not playing tricks on me. There were two of them. I am 100% sure of this.
I still suspect Samantha has a home down the road in that “house of many cats”. The occupants do not seem to want to talk to strangers, though.
Anyway, Samantha has been coming daily to ask for food and I have been feeding her whenever she comes. I just hope that her owners will keep her confined indoors when she is about to give birth so that her newborn kittens will be safe from the rain and the elements of the environment.
Riley hasn’t been coming for the last few days.
But this morning, both of them came.

Samantha is more trusting of me now. She doesn’t run away when I approach but of course, it still isn’t near enough for me to pat her.

Riley still runs way when I approach but there is some improvement in that as well.

I still do not know Riley’s gender.
