Riley, Riley, Riley…

I really did not want to resort to this. Sigh…

But I guess I have to try…whatever works. So here goes….

Ginger’s carrier….there’s a bowl of delicious tuna and sardines at the end.

Won’t you step into the chamber, Ms Riley? Delicious food awaits…

Half the body goes in…

But folks, I’m not going to do anything today. I’m just sitting at a distance, watching. There’s no ribbon attached. Nothing. Just introducing her to this new “chamber”. There’s a towel inside too, like a carpet leading to the bowl of delicious food.

Sila masuk…

Riley: You think I’m a fool?

She went round to investigate the new contraption.

Sure, go right ahead. We have all evening. Nothing’s happening, I assure you.

So Riley went to the “back” and I don’t know what she did there. I just let her be.

And finally, she decided she is not going to eat that food, no matter how good it smells.

Bye, Riley. But I know you’re hungry, aren’t you?

So I waited again. And Riley was just outside the security door. She was waiting too. Let’s see who outwaits who, right?

And I actually did not have “all evening” to do this. So I lost the battle and I brought the bowl of delicious food out.

And Riley came in to eat. I could slowly sit on the purple stool, which I think is already “great” seeing how I had traumatised her this morning with my clumsy and unsuccessful attempt at catching her.

She ate as much as she wanted, then she went out to the porch.

Now, I’ve left the carrier outside the door in the porch. We have a cardboard box, two baskets with towels and now, this carrier with a towel inside. Take your pick, Riley.

Riley: I prefer to sit under your car, thank you very much.

Riley came again a bit later to ask for kibble and I was able to sit on the shoe bench and give her a bowl of kibble. Quite close. I’d say this is a success. I won’t attempt to touch her for now. It will spook her.

Each time I do these Riley projects, Ginger has to go out to the catio and poor Tabs has to go into Bunny’s Place. So I have to be fair to Tabs too. She shouldn’t have to spend too long in Bunny’s Place.

By the way, Tabs is now 5.2kg. There was a time when she was so stressed when Minnie’s boys were just born that Tabs lost weight and was only 4.7kg. This March, she was only 4.25kg. Now, she is 5.2kg and she no longer fears Minnie’s boys.

As for Little Riley, she was so happy playing with a raffia string in the porch this morning. It was so cute. And yesterday, she went up to one of our flower pots and defecated there. There’s a litter box for her in the porch too, but she preferred the flower pot. The plan is for Riley to make our porch her home. If she wants to come in the live with Tabs, that’s fine too. But being feral, she might not want to be confined.

Meanwhile, Samantha has been coming from the neighbour’s roof. I wonder if her kittens are actually there.

And a new neighbour who does not like animals has moved in.

Challenges, challenges…that’s life.
