Bunny’s current favourite kibble and…nostalgia

As you know, Bunny is now very, very choosy over food.

It’s because of his kidney problems and also probably he cannot smell very well now, so he needs more aromatic and fragrant food. Cats need their sense of smell to trigger appetite.

So, when Bunny lost interest in a 100% raw diet, I gave him canned food. But he needed more variety, so I resorted to kibble.

We started with RC’s Renal which he liked but has now lost interest in it.

Then because of his digestive issues, I also gave him RC’s GastroIntestinal which he loved but has also lost interest in it now.

So I had to hunt for another brand of kibble.

The problem is that for other brands of kibble, the protein level is too high for Bunny. And I learnt that unless it is a prescription diet, the protein level goes proportionately with the quality of the food.

I resorted to Cindy’s Naturelle Grainfree kibble and he pounced on that instantly. He loved it! But the protein level is still too high at 30 – 34%. So I could not give that to him on a daily basis. I only added a few pellets with the RC prescription diet for the extra aroma to entice him to eat. For Grainfree, the protein levels are 30% for Salmon, 32% for Chicken and 34% for Chicken & Turkey.

Now, I am giving him Cindy’s Naturelle Holistic Chicken & Salmon (maintenance). This protein level is 30%. Of course he loves it…for now. Compared with Grainfree Salmon, the calcium level of Holistic Chicken & Salmon is lower (1.1% compared to 1.3% in Grainfree). The major difference is that Holistic has wheat whereas Grainfree uses vegetables (this also accounts for the price difference as vegetables is more expensive than wheat).

Besides kibble, Bunny is still, thankfully, on steamed tilapia. He still loves it.

I tried GastroIntestinal today. Nope, tak mahu. So I mixed a bit of Cindy’s into it. Bunny still refused to eat it.

Bunny: Tipu!!

He will only eat PURE Cindy’s. Oh well. As long as you eat something. This was the mid-day snack.

And then, everyone wanted it too, including Tabs.

It’s rare to have Tabs join them for a meal so this photo is one for the album.

Nostalgia – We moved into this house on 3rd January 2012 with Bobby and seven cats (Cow Mau, Bunny, Pole, Tiger, Cleo, Indy and Tabs). Here are photos from the day we moved in: https://animalcare.my/2012/01/03/sunrise-and-bobby-and-cats-arrive-at-bunnys-place/

Carpe Diem! Cherish each day while we still can.
