Potassium and egg white powder for Bunny

First and most importantly, I must convey my utmost gratitude to everyone who is wishing Bunny well. Thank you so much for your kindness.

Second, a big thank you to my friend for reminding me that the drooping head could be due to insufficient potassium (I had not thought of this though I had read it before during Pole’s time but Pole did not have this problem). So I texted the vet and asked if Bunny should be on a potassium supplement. She said yes, and prescribed Kaminox. With Kaminox, I will have to stop the Fortekor, which the vet says is fine.

My friend also told me that I could give egg white powder (albumin) to Bunny by sprinkling some onto his food. So I went to three bake ingredient shops before I could get it.

Bunny has had three meals today! The vet said I could increase his meals since he is willing to eat.

So as of now, he has had 3 cans of Cindy’s baby food and the latest one had added egg white powder in it and I gave him 1ml of Kaminox after that. Surprisingly he likes the Kaminox. The prescribed dose is 1.5ml twice a day, but I would prefer to start with a lower dose first.

As with the Gabapentin, I started with the prescribed dosage and it kind of knocked Bunny out. Now, he is completely off Gabapentin but I have standby Tramadol just in case he is in pain.

It doesn’t appear that Bunny is in pain, which is good.

I also read that lymphoma isn’t necessarily painful. The vet suspects Bunny has lymphoma in the brain because he was twisting to the right and given his age and being FIV+, it is possible to have lumps in the brain. We are not certain about it but we are just addressing the symptoms to make Bunny feel more comfortable. Even if we know for certain that it is lymphoma, there is nothing we can do about it. Bunny is too advanced in age to be given chemotherapy.

I also put Bunny out in the sun for some sunshine after every meal. The sun is healing. And Bunny has always loved the sun.

Bunny even knows how to tell me that he wants food. He gives a loud mew when he knows I’m at the pantry. I’ve learnt that this means Bunny is hungry. I guess the Prednisolone (steroids) would make him more hungry too.

He had liquid stools yesterday so I gave him Bioflor and so far, there has been no stools.

Bunny urinates almost after every meal when I put him out for some sun.

I hope the Kaminox helps Bunny feel better.

Thank you very much, dear friends, for wishing Bunny well. It means a lot to us.
