Wishing Bunny peace

There is no escape from the inevitable. And yet when it is happening, it is so difficult to bear.

But we console ourselves that we have done our very best and that Bunny is not conscious now, so he is at peace. His breathing is steady and moderate, there are absolutely no signs of any struggle. Just a tiny muscle twitch every now and then.

Tiger too was in a coma for about a day, but he was at the clinic as he was on intravenous drip. The vet told me he had seen cats wake up from a coma before. Cats are so resilient. But Tiger did not wake up. He passed away the next day. So he was comatose for about a day. Tiger was FIV+ as well.

We currently have three FIV+ cats: Ginger, Cow Mau and Bunny.

I’ve grown up being told that we must not cry in front of a person who is passing on. The person will find it more difficult to be at peace and to let go knowing that we are sad. Being in a coma is like being in a dream-like state, but it is possible that the person can still hear.

It is Bunny’s brain. The vet already said she worries his brain activity was deteriorating fast. She was right.

I changed Bunny’s towel just now as there were a few tiny ants on it. His body is stiff but warm. Bobby was also in this state during his final day.

We just do not want our loved ones to struggle and be in any prolonged pain. I think everyone wants this.

Cow Mau is keeping vigil by his brother. Cow Mau is Bunny’s brother and he is also FIV+. We lost Pole in March 2021 to kidney failure. Pole was their sister. She wasn’t FIV+.

Jia-Wen dropped in before going to work this morning. Bunny is his favourite cat. Bunny saw Jia-Wen grow up, from a Form Four student to what he is today.

All our cats are my favourite cats. So Bunny is definitely my favourite.

Mummy loves you, Bunny. Be at peace. I’m here with you.

Cow Mau beside Bunny.

Be at peace, Bunny.

We think we know about life and death, but we don’t. There is so much we do not know so we just go with our hearts.

Thank you very much, dear friends, for your kind prayers and wishes. It means a lot to me.
