I knew Akira would be an adventurous and feisty kitten moments after she was born!
She was already climbing up Samantha and looking aggressively for a nipple then while Kai was still figuring out what he was supposed to do.
Female vs male, right? What else can I say?

Look at this little Amazon kitty!
She is out of the nest again and Samantha doesn’t know she’s supposed to bring her back.

The moment I brought her back, she’s latching on again. Indra wasn’t, so I put him to a nipple. Indra somehow prefers the very top nipple which doesn’t look very full. I’ll have to check later if it has any milk.
The would be the first time I’m intervening when there is a mother-cat. I’ve handraised orphaned newborns before, though – Cow, Bunny & Pole, the Orange Kittens (only for a day, then the mother came back at the shoplot), Suki, the Sunnies (Rex, Fox, Honeybear), the Blueys (Baloo and Baggy), Peanut, Butter & Jelly. Babykit didn’t make it because I made the disastrous mistake of putting him to a foster mother-cat at a rescuer’s house. There was no proper monitoring and by the time I went to check after 2 days and quickly brought him back, it was too late to save him. He was brought to my (then) vet and the vet asked me to help nurse him.
If Indra doesn’t hit the weight gain by 5.30pm this evening, I’m going to have to handfeed him. If that happens, I may have to handfeed him all the way in case Samantha rejects him after that.
I hope that does not happen. For now, I’ll just have to keep bringing him to the nipple to let him suckle.
