In Chinese, we call it “shifting nests”.
Right on the dot, today’s the 5th day and Samantha has shifted the kittens to a new location.

This was last night’s late night photo where Riley and I checked on the kittens.

And this morning I found the box empty. I looked around and finally found Samantha under the ottoman. But she and the kittens were lying on the tiled floor, which I think is cold. So I stuffed a towel inside, but this only made Samantha move further in. She did not want the towel.

And she’s showing me her buttocks, which means, “Lay off, human!”

Okay, okay, madam, but please use the towel if it’s cold, especially for Kai, Akira and Indra. You may not feel cold, but they might.
I still managed to weigh the kittens, though.
| Date | Time | Kai | Akira | Indra |
| 11-Feb | 6.00pm | 118 | 115 | 104 |
| 12-Feb | 6.30am | 125 | 123 | 114 |
| 12-Feb | 5.30pm | 133 | 131 | 123 |
| 13-Feb | 5.30am | 143 | 137 | 128 |
| 13-Feb | 6.00pm | 149 | 146 | 133 |
| 14-Feb | 5.00am | 160 | 149 | 145 |
| 14-Feb | 5.30pm | 166 | 160 | 158 |
| 15-Feb | 6.30am | 177 | 167 | 167 |
We are on track! Well, Akira’s weight gain is slightly slower, but maybe it’s because she’s a girl. She has to be, right? She’s a very diluted calico, but still a calico with cattitude! And yes, she’s still squealing every now and then, making sure we know she’s there.
As advised by my friend, maybe I should just weigh them once a day instead of every 12 hours. Samantha must be thinking why I’m meddling so much. Sorry, ma’am.
A brain wave! I think maybe Samantha prefers cardboard to towels? Will try that.
