A lettuce/cabbage wrap for Samantha? No way!

Yesterday, when we were trying to figure out how to help Samantha with her engorged mammary glands, the vet asked if Samantha might consent to being wrapped in lettuce.

Lettuce??

Yes, a lettuce wrap such that the lettuce (or any vegetable) will cool down the inflammation of her mammary glands.

I was almost sure there was no way I could have done it.

The vet also showed me internet photos of cats wrapped with lettuce around their torso. It was a lot of lettuce leaves and there was a covering around it to keep the lettuce in place. I could not find the photo again though I tried various key phrases.

This is the closest I could find:

The photo wasn’t anything like this. The cat seemed to be happily walking around, with lettuce wrapped around her entire torso.

Samantha? No way!

Anyway, the engorgement problem is over now. All is well. The kittens are all suckling.

An update: It’s not lettuce, apparently, it’s cabbage:

Cabbage leaves should be secured to the affected mammary gland using a bandage or fitted t-shirt. Once applied, they should be left in place for two to four hours, after which the cabbage leaves should be removed for three to four hours before reapplying for another two to four hours.

But which self-respecting cat would allow you to do this??
