Hiro’s very yellow urine

My fears are more or less confirmed.

Hiro’s urine is very yellow. I saw a urine ball when I woke up today at 3am.

Based on my untrained knowledge, it is very possibly a sign of liver failure. Maybe his liver has not matured since he is still so young and did not have a good start in life.

Whatever it is, my plan is to take Hiro to the vet’s today and see if any treatment can be given. I do know that for adult cats, liver disease can be cured.

Our dog, Bobby, survived liver failure at 8 years old and continued to live on until he was almost 16. Minnie had liver disease and was jaundiced when she first came to our porch. She was also pregnant (with the Monsters). She recovered too. But Rosie did not. Rosie had a more complicated version of a liver disease known as hepatic cholestasis. Both allopathic and TCM (including acupuncture) could not help. Rosie was also FIV+.

I really don’t know if Rosie and Ginger were FIV+ as infants because they both grew up on the street for a year before we moved into this neighbourhood. Their mother, Daffodil, was never tested too. She passed away peacefully at 17 of old age.

But back to Little Hiro now.

He has all the signs of liver disease – no appetite, lethargy, weight loss.

The urine is indeed very yellow.

We’ll be going to the vet’s later today.
