We’ve been transplanting some of our Heliconia from Ginger’s Catio to Bunny’s Place to provide shade to the new platforms.
And Indy has been the happiest!
Indy is a rural cat!
This is a newly-transplanted Heliconia plant so the leaves are still curled up.
The plant is “in shock” but with sufficient water, it will recover.
Kai and Akira love the platforms. So does Indra.
By the way, Akira is the aggressive one, being calico, and she made an attempt to escape yesterday morning through the anti-climb. She managed to squeeze her head out, then before anything further happened, we pulled her back and have since covered up that hole too.
I think these attempts at escaping is a sigh of impending sexual maturity; she wants to go out. I’ve arranged an appointment for their spaying already, the earliest I could get. The vet said once they pass 2kg and 4 months old, they should be spay-able. All three have passed these marks. They will be five months old on 10th July, at 12noon, 12.30pm and 1pm (I watched them being born, in order – Kai, Akira, Indra!).
The Blondies are quite close to Cow Mau. They do not fear him at all. In fact, they touch noses with him. Cow Mau is very protective of them. That’s Riley with Indra.
Riley loves the platforms too. Like Tabs, she has access to both the house and Bunny’s Place.
Cleo has taken this cage as her own. Cleo’s an urban cat.
Minnie and the Monsters are all rural cats. They love all things natural.
As big as he is, Ginger has no problems going right up to the top. Ginger is a very adaptable cat. Although he was born on the street and spent the first year of his life on the street (before we moved into this neighbourhood), he can be both indoors (urban) and rural! He’s comfortable in both environments. As you all know, he loves the longkangs too.
That’s Lynx and Rey. The good thing with the Monsters is that they don’t monopolise any spot in the catio. All favourite spots are shared on a first-come-first-served basis. They are not like our warriors (that would be Cow Mau, Indy and Cleo). Our warriors are of a different status altogether.
Tabs is definitely urban!!
Samantha is a cat of both worlds!! But if given a choice, her tendency is towards being rural too.
