If you remember, during a brain fog episode after Covid-19, I accidentally bought a large bag of Cat’s Best Universal instead of the Original.
The Universal is a non-clumping large-sized litter meant for cats, rabbits and guinea pigs.
I only realised I had bought the wrong one after I cut open the pack and poured some of it out and I did wonder how on earth I’m going to use it all up.
Well, my worries were put to rest because believe it or not, Tabs and the Monsters actually like it better than Original!
Of course, as expected, the Blondies don’t like it as the pellets are too big for their delicate princessy paws. But Tabs and the Monsters actually prefer it!
I am not sure what Tabs and the Monsters like about it, though. But every day, I see it being used.
Scooping is not as user-friendly for the human as the Original since it doesn’t clump. I need to look for the parts that have been used, characterised by the pellets becoming “loose” and fragmented. And it also isn’t as economical as the Original since a lot has to be scooped up to be thrown away.
I don’t think I want to buy this Universal again (unless my brain fogs up and I end up accidentally buying another pack!!), though.
Cat’s Best comes in four types: Original, Smart, Sensitive and Universal.
The Blondies started with Sensitive when they were very young.

This is how big the pellets are in the Universal. Real huge.
Perhaps Tabs and the Monsters like it because it doesn’t stick to their paws. Perhaps I might try the Smart pellets for Tabs and the Monsters. This one clumps and it’s big pellets like Universal. Clumping would make it easier for scooping.
As for the Blondies, I think their delicate paws still need the Original.
