I went for my last clinic dressing today!
The doctor says I only have to do it myself at home as the wound is healing well.
But it would have to remain plastered for it to heal properly.
I had always thought that we should expose the wound to let it dry faster, but the doctor explained that that is not the case at all. Wounds should always be covered up to prevent infection. So, plastered up until it is fully healed.

The daily dressing that I have to do involves (1) Cleaning the wound with saline, (2) Applying the antibiotic cream and (3) Plastering it up. That’s all. The doctor says there is no more slough.
Hey, Cow Mau, we are okay…finally! Look, Cow Mau….

Cow Mau: zzzz….
A gentle reminder to all pet parents and animal caregivers who might experience an animal bite:
- Get medical attention at the doctor’s within the first hour of the bite.
- The doctor will clean the wound, assess it and maybe antibiotics are needed (Cavumox is good).
- Ensure your tetanus jabs are up-to-date. One jab lasts 10 years. If not, let the doctor know.
- Use common sense to make sense of the recommended treatment by the doctor!
I hope you will never need the above suggestions!! Don’t get bitten!!
