When the Blondies held me “at gunpoint”…over food

For three days now, the Blondies (with the occasional exception of Akira) have been holding me at gunpoint.

“Give us kibble or we starve”, they say.

Starve and play, that is.

If you are wondering why I even have kibble in the house, it is because of our super seniors and seniors. Once they become seniors, they become choosy over food and my feeding principle for seniors is “As long as they eat”.

So, the younger ones found out about kibble (oh wow, tasty junk!!!!) and demand for it too.

I raised the Blondies on a 100% raw diet. They took to it naturally at the age of 1 month plus when I weaned them off breast milk and on to solids.

But now, they have learnt to eat junk (read: kibble)!

And they are getting naughtier by the day.

So last night, everyone boycotted raw food, including Samantha. It was a 100% boycott, led by Kai (yes, the eldest and the ringleader).

Finally, not wanting them to starve, I offered kibble but I wet it (yes, I added water to it). They came to the bowl, realised there was water and staged a walk-out. Every single one of them.

“We’ll rather starve, give us dry kibble or else….”

I refused to give in initially and I saw Samantha eventually eating the water-soaked kibble. Imagine Samantha giving in and not any of her naughty strong-willed daughters.

Eventually, I lost the battle.

I gave them RC Dental kibble. I thought since they want it so much, let’s hope the dental kibble does its job to clean their teeth a little.

Wow, what a feast for them! A victory feast too, I suppose.

This afternoon, I managed to catch them one by one during the hot afternoon when everyone was not as active, and I weighed them.

Here’s the result:

Kai – 3.95kg
Akira – 4.43kg
Indra – 4.6kg !!

For female kucing kampungs, Akira and Indra have crossed the 4kg threshold of “normal weight”. It’s not surprising that Kai is the lightest because she eats the least. Indra is almost as heavy as Indy now (4.65kg).

Kai taking a nap.

Samantha hounding Indy for his RC renal kibble. And yes, everyone loves RC renal kibble maybe because it’s not their food! The forbidden fruit is always sweeter, isn’t it? Every time I feed Indy, I have to stay and keep watch or either Samantha or Akira will wrestle the food away from gentlemanly Indy.

Akira

Indra, the runt of the litter and now, the heaviest!

Now, the Monsters also caught the scent of the delicious RC Dental so they too wanted some. But they are reasonable, because for their square meals twice a day, it’s 100% raw. Maybe boys are easier and not as demanding?

The Monsters eat all kinds of foods, which is good.

But it’s different with the Blondies. They eat raw food (they were raised on it), but they demand for kibble now and funnily, they don’t like canned food. Only Kai is willing to eat canned food and the rest don’t like it. I’d much rather that they demand for canned food, because it’s wet food.
